Maybe Pacman has seen the light...

As far as the conduct policy, has anyone determined for sure whether they were punished under the new or old one?

I heard Mort say the other day that they were punished under the old one... I know it's not written in stone when Mort says it, but I haven't seen anything saying otherwise.

I'm sure the NFL has something signed by Pacman agreeing to this policy... especially if it's the old policy. If it's being done under the new one, then how do you know everyone hasn't signed off on it already?

how are you doing today? and when dealing with burm its very hard not to.

its cute that youre still hung up on me saying that the other night. youre seeming to want to join my club though. before you would actually enter to talk about the topic but now youre just talking about me. im flattered. keep it up and you can join too.

Hung up, I think it's funny. And I think it's cute that you accused me of being condescending. And I entered the topic, don't you worry. Didn't think you were gonna get away with trying to be the bully in a legal topic with all the knowledge you've gotten from "the people around you" did you?

And it's also cute that you dedicate a portion of your sig to all the people who have crawled under your skin on the board.

the problem is with time frame and effective dates which are not talked about there.

The league office has discretion in handing out punishment even under the old system.

Do you have anything to show what policy they were punished under?

The interesting thing to see here is what will the NFLPA do? I could be off on my numbers here but I thought it was reported that something like 80% of the players reps supported Goodell on this thing. At least, I thought that's what was reported. It will be interesting to see how the Union reacts here.

I don't know this guy at all but logically I think I can work out what he might be thinking/doing:

1. Jones has become the poster boy for "bad actor" in the NFL. Whether this is justified or not makes no difference. His name is a household word and a large number of people who don't watch football recognize his name. He is now a media target in every sense of the word.

2. His income has been damaged and his career is threatened regardless of what happens from here. Damage control is mandatory at this point....for Jones, his agent, and the Titans if they want to retain his services.

3. Publicly, Jones must make a choir boy look like a delinquent in comparison to have any hope of digging out of this. Any misstep, even a traffic ticket, will be perceived badly. He must be seen as doing something constructive during his suspension (or during the fight over his suspension). Idleness will also be perceived negatively.

4. Once the suspension (or the fight) is over he must avoid any repeat occurrences for the rest of his football career. He will get no additional chances.

If he fails to accomplish any of the above, his football career may well be over.
Well, Ispain gets it. I get it. Who else gets it?

Great post, btw.

its not that you get under my skin. its just that you come here to talk about me. it makes me feel special. i mean youre the one coming here and talking about me. im not asking you to.

and how am i being a bully? im actually discussing it with everyone other than burm and have you read what he actually said?

and i think perhaps i should have phrased the condescending phrase from the other day differently. my point was that if you wanted to start an argument then i could go along with it as well. i mean you were the one talking about how theo and yourself were on the same side and how you wre going to deal with me.

overall tho summer got banned, i got a warning and youre starting it again. now is it really necessary or can we talk about something other than me?

the new policy is the only one that states a suspension could be handed down before a conviction. the judgements were handed won on the very day the new policy was instituted.

now i have no other proof than logic but there was a reason that thye used to wait for due process and they chose not to this time.

youre still on ignore 5stars. i know youre talking about me because you always do. its kind of sad really.

On Mike & Mike this morning, Golic said that Jones' agent is reporting that although he is not conceding the fact that he won't play next year, if that does happen he will re-enroll at WVU and finish his degree.

i dont think so. the old system only talks about players that have committed crimes being subject to the policy and that the commisioner then has the right to enforce and suspension he feels warranted.

the NFL cannot decide if an act was a crime or not.

There wasn't so much a new policy as it is an updated policy. At a glance, the NFLPA and NFL agreed to re-structure the disciplinary actions and strengthen the various support systems already in place.

----------
This is where the NFL has Pacman. It wasn't added to the new policy. It was already there.
Duty to Report Prohibited Conduct
To ensure the effective administration of the policy, the League must be advised when a Covered Person engages in Prohibited Conduct. The obligation to report an arrest or criminal charge extends to both the person involved and to the Club or League entity for which he or she works. Persons subject to this policy who are arrested or charged with Prohibited Conduct must report that incident to their Clubs or to NFL Security. Failure to report an incident will constitute conduct detrimental and will be taken into consideration in the final determination of discipline under this policy.

i think they signed off on it from the get go. its why jones is hiring his own attorney to handle it.

i would too.
