Maybe we are not as bad as we thought.

we're a pretty bad football team for all of the "talent" we have.

Naw, we just have a pretty bad HC. This team is full of talent, it just lacks discipline, focus, and hard work which all comes back to our soft weak HC..

Exactly. They accomplish nothing outside of exposing your attitude. Good or bad.

Some people don't value a whiny, poor attitude as much as others. Some don't like excuses. Some don't like either.

The Giants and Eagles played and almost identical schedule (14 out of 16 games the same).

They didnt whine about it and make excuses, they played ball.

THERE IS WINNING AND NOT WINNING......no excuses.

The Giants are the defending Super Bowl champs and I am pretty sure they did'nt play themselves twice.

The only other team who can say they played a similar schedule is actually Washington. Since Dallas didn't make the playoffs they can't be used as a 2nd week playoff team....

No your posts... collective "your" there... actually help our stock market with the influx of dollars spent on tissue paper to dry tears.

The "excuse-making" posts are merely an attempt to talk the crazies off the ledge. I know many will jump but if I can save a few that works for me.

I stand corrected.

My point was more to the 3rd place schedule talk......it isnt very beneficial because all division teams play 14 games the same each year and only 2 games from record the previous year.

Yea, and the sad part is that JJ is going to bring this cupcake back for 2009. I have nothing to look foward to next season, 8-8 if we are lucky.

Look beyond the numbers and remember the games.

Yeah... we are/were that bad.

I am looking beyond that and remembering we had Pitt down 10 with only a few minutes left and were in striking distance of Baltimore and the offense playing the best it did all month when the defense was gashed twice in a row.

The Philly game was a comedy of errors where everything that could go wrong did. We'd drive down the field and then fumble which gets returned for a TD, come back and drive down again and then toss a pick that goes the other way for a TD. You face those kind of 24 point swings and well, its pretty easy to look like a 7th grade team.

It sucks losing... ever, under any circumstance.

Going 9-7 is so far from acceptable it isn't even funny.

All that said this 9-7 looks a whole lot better after today's games.
2 of the teams who beat us won going away.

If you are keeping score at home that means Dallas faced 7 games against teams who made it week 2 of the NFL playoffs.

Out of a 16 week schedule that is flatly ridiculous.

wade, is that you?
you are tougher to recognize when you dont start by saying 13-3 , 13-3,.....

This is the same loser thought process that keeps Wade Phillips employed as a HC.

I am not worried about the 3rd place stuff so much as the specific fact we faced 4 teams in 5 weeks to close the season that went to round 2 of the playoffs. That pretty ridiculous.

I know we had to beat the Rams and beat the Commanders in that first game but our schedule was tougher than we thought even while worried about how tough it was.

You don't lose those games and feel good about it but now that it is over you don't build the team back up by exclaiming every player and every coach just sucks.

I knew this was going to happen.

People would start saying that the 44-6 route that eliminated us from Playoff contention looked alot better because the Eagles won.

Just like they did when the Giants won.

Not to mention the fact that the Vikings had the very mediocre Tavarius Jackson playing at Quarterback and they were still more competitive against the Eagles than we were.

Lordy, when will the excuses for underachieving ever end.

What does a QB have to do with Adrian Peterson breaking 40 yard TD runs??? How mnay would Minny have scored if it was on its 3rd RB?

That QB they don't have tossing an INT returned for a TD was why they had no real shot at winning but the Vikes have a solid team other than at QB and weren't really close.

It is more than slightly possible the final 4 will be Pitt, Balt, Giants, Eagles.

Does it mean we didn't underachieve and didn't suck when it counted? No.
Does it mean we faced a gauntlet greater than even we realized? Yes.

Peterson will never become an all-time great RB in today's game if he doesn't learn to block and catch better.

He's clearly the absolutely most dangerous player on their team with the ball in his hands, yet he's on the sideline in passing situations in a playoff game. He's not there to run the draw, the screen, passes from the backfield. I don't understand that at all.

I'd rather have the other RBs giving him a break now and then running and make sure I have him on the field for the passing game...he must stink at it or their OC is dumber than ours.

It's the guy who hasn't won squat without Jimmy Johnson's team. The guy whose veteran players made fun of his #1 draft choices after Jimmy Johnson left.

Keep making homer excuses for them. Jerry and his bank account are hoping you will.

Agreed. It's a lame way to make one's self feel better - but if it works for some, so be it.

We're simply not as good as advertised and trying to ease the pain by the results of this weekends games is misguided.

You know Sarge, just looking at all the Playoff teams, it is pretty interesting.

The majority of the teams are full of a bunch of guys and a few stars.

The Cowboys are a team full of a bunch of stars and few guys.

It sickens me to death to see Philadelphia and their no name Offense moving on to the next round.

I wouldn't be suprised at all if they beat the Giants.

I have always wondered how you can underachieve when you have never achieved anything in the first place.

This team gets built up as a Super Bowl champ based on going 13-3 last year but without the key guys from that team being healthy(Romo and Barber specifically) this team just isn't that good.

Who is the fool? The one who fails to meet expectations or the one who keeps setting them at a bar they can't reach?

This team needs to go about its football business like any other... aim for winning the division, take any playoff games one game at a time and forego a bunch of mediots predictions about the Super Bowl.

This team can't even enjoy winning because when they do its expected.

All i know is that Dallas would've been eliminated this weekend had they backed into the playoffs, it was merciful to just not attend this season.

I hear ya - I can see them beating the Giants also. They are playing far better ball than the Giants right now. Giants haven't been the same since the Plaxico incident.
