Attitude, focus, and discipline are the key elements that get you through the month of December, and should be established in training camp.
Unfortunately, when you run a TC like a club med, and you allow family members to attend and bring picnic lunches, none of those three key elements is ever really instilled.

It ain't only about losing. It's the WAY we lose.

I've never quite seen anything like it.

Yep, the team found creative ways to lose games that really kicked the fans in the lower abdominal region.

NFL first - blocked punt to lose in OT

NFL first - back to back runs against Baltimore of 75 yards +.

Dominate the entire game against Pittsburgh, then the defense fails to get that LAST stop (the stop where you say "we need THIS stop right here, and we win"), and finally Romo coughs up the pick 6 when all we needed was to simply get a FG or protect the football and take our chances in OT.

The Ram egg laying was just truly mind boggling. The Rams were the very worst team in the league not named the Lions. They kicked our butts. The game was a blowout.... and the Rams haven't won a game since.

And then to just completely curl up in to the fetal position when playoffs were on the line, thus turning in the very worst loss of the Jerry jones era (even worse than any in the 1-15 season).

It's the circus environment that Jerry actually brings to camp and practices all for the sake of marketing his team and making an extra buck. Too bad he doesn't try as hard to get the team to win as he does trying to market them.

As bad as some think? No. As good as others think? No. Fact is Dallas entered the season with high expectations and failed to meet them and the fans are clearly upset that this team came up short. Right now I have seen some around here already predicting 5-11 or under 500 for next year. I'm not sure if they actually believe that or if this is just an overreaction to the disappointment.

Well, the team didn't have any pride, or even unity by the end of the season. And Jerry is bringing everyone back, or so he says. Maybe they can magically get their minds right like Coolhand Luke, but Wade needs to first make them dig the same hole over and over again till they are broken, and their minds are right. Do you think Wade has the cajones to do that?

I think this team can win and willing to give Wade as I would any coach the time to do the job. Unlike many around here I don't believe in the 1 or 2 years and then fire the HC. I'm not trying to change your mind if you think otherwise but I have seen enough football in the 40 some odd years of watching it to know what I'm talking about. I expect fans to over react I don't expect Jerry to follow

QFT.

I though the OP was gonna end their post with 13-3 or we won a playoff game by getting the bye.

Grrrrr..........

It wasn't just the "NFL firsts" it was the team records we set. Like the two long runs back to back against the Ravens. If I believed in that sort of thing, I would believe the Flutie curse was in full effect.

The Rams game was simply being outsmarted, outcoached and outhustled. A true team failure.

I hope it doesn't take you 40 years of watching Jerry before you figure him out too.

If you take a page from the Wade Phillips book of playoff excuses, you could claim the Giants game was a playoff game which we won, the Ravens were a post-season tune-up that we just missed due to dumb luck and we simply lost a wildcard game to the Eagles. But we played playoff teams tough before Philadelphia. Or something like that.

Jerry went out and got some very good talent on this team I have no issue with Jerry. I don't agree with all the moves such as Pacman or TO as far as that goes but I expect the GM to go out and sign talented players Jerry has done that.

Yes... so on the resume it goes under the category

"Sort of like the playoffs"

- Beat the Giants in Nov... ah shucks I thought that was pretty good
- Lost to Ravens... almost beat them golly gee... just two bad plays at the end of game
- The Eagles game... well... we just didnt play too good. I am gonna change so next year is better when we have BIG games to win

Just getting the talent is not enough. Getting the talent to play together is. I believe even Phillips own father said the following:

How do you win? By getting average players to play good and good players to play great. That's how you win.

I don't see that his son did either consistently.

I agree it will be up to Wade and the other coaches on the staff to get more out of this team. As for Jerry did he or did he not bring in the talent? I think he did and I think he is willing to give his HC a chance despite what few others would be willing to do but then we have fans wanting to ditch Parcells as well and they will be the same wanting to ditch the next HC if we don't win right away.

Partially. That part of the GMs responsibilities however does not end at simply getting skilled players. It is getting the right skilled players to fit in.

How many years did we sit back and laugh at Daniel Snyder for going after the likes of Deion Sanders and Bruce Smith without regard as to how his staff could handle so many egos to feed? Yet we feel satisfied when Jones does basically the same thing? What is the difference? When you add in the fact those like Johnson and Jones were known character concerns, it makes it even worse.

On the nosey.

That's my biggest concern. I realize part of being a fan is accepting losses.

But I've never (and that's not an exaggeration) seen a Cowboys team lose like these guys have.

And ya know, although there were a lot of those kinds of losses this season, they did similar garbage under Parcells...like the Seahawk playoff game. Yep, Romo botched the snap but even after that, with the Seahawks pinned at the one yard line, first play...a long run by Shawn Alexander.

This team has been coming up small in the biggest of spots for years.

Bruce Smith and Deion were past prime players and paid big money to get them. Owens was the only FA we picked up that was up in age and I was not even in favor of the move to begin with and caught hell from you and others when I said getting TO was a mistake same with Pacman Jones but there is no doubt they have talent and it will be up to the staff to make the most of that talent. Dallas failed to do that this past season

I agree.

If I didn't know any better, it'd be enough to make a guy suspicious that this team was intentionally throwing games.

I don't believe it for a second and I do know better, but if ever there was a team that found ways to lose ....

This thread is amusing and frightening at the same time.

Amusing that some have begun the rationalization process and frightening that they actually believe it.

They did the same exact thing after the New York Giants started having success in the Playoffs last year.

I have never seen anything like it...even during the "choke" years of the late 60's.
