Mazi will be fine, all he has to do is plug the middle and he did that pretty well last night. It is his first game at NFL speed, it takes some adjustments and snaps.
Mazi was supposed to plug up the middle to help stop the run and he did that, but after doing that he's supposed to drop back into pass coverage and help out the CBs! I didn't see him do that one time! Not even once! He's a bum, cut him!

Mazi did exactly what Mazi was drafted to do. He’s a 0/1 tech DT… not a 3T that is going to pressure the QB. He is supposed to take on double teams and allow LB’s, DE’s and the 3T to make the plays. When he doesn’t get doubled, he is supposed to push his guy back in the pocket so the QB can’t step up away from the ends.

Mazi will never have good stats or show up to casual fans on game day. Others will. If Parsons would have had Mazi pushing the pocket last year, he might would have had 19 sacks instead of his 13.5. So many times Micah beat his guy around the edge and the QB just stepped up and threw the ball while Parsons zoomed right behind the passer, just out of arms reach.

That is the value Mazi brings, and it will never be reflected in Mazi’s stats. Y’all just need to get ready for that.

I swear, I think I give some people way too much credit for them understanding football and knowing what they’re watching. Unvbelievable.
Exactly. Some guys are just too anxious to criticize. Like you said, Mazi is doing just what he's supposed to do, and that has been missing on our DL till now.

.......And he gets doubled a lot. He draws that double because they know what he'll do if they don't.
Mazi is a beast, and with some experience he'll be even scarier.

A rookie has work to do, shocking.
exactly. Its like sayin water is wet. I noticed he posted a vid of Jeff Cavanaugh. Let me say this, if he's getting his insight from him, Lord have mercy. He's the same guy who wanted Dallas to draft the tiny safety from TCU , Adarius Washington, in rd 2, about 2 years ago. The kid busted. I can say more, but I'll leave that alone. Mazi is like most rooks, learning on the fly. He will be fine. My point is, buyer beware of the YT football experts especially in preseason. Much tends 2 change as things play out.

How can you tell an apple tree is actually an apple tree? ( whistling.........) Answer: By the fruit it produces. Another way of saying the cliche, talk is cheaper, show it.

When the Cowboys drafted Mazi, the sell job was " he is a great athlete". The Cowboys will coach the NFL into him. Well, a meanless preseason game and training camps, the Dallas Cowboys staff is not producing the fruit they were selling....so far. The staff couldn't do it with John Ridgeway after selling him when he was drafted. Dallas cut him and was picked up by the Commanders, who is a starters for them now.
Not giving up on Mazi, nor did he have a bust game, but being a #1 pick, the 1st showing was somewhat yawning.

And your 2nd round pick --right now --- looks like your 3rd string TE.

Want to see why Dallas can't sniff a NFC Conference game in 30 years, the groceries are bought from ALDI store
(Side note: OL was B-A-D and if just one starter goes down, look out )

Jeffry has dem crazy eyes..bug eyes. His takes are even more nutty. But every now and again, he makes sense. Its rare.

I generally agree about Jeff, but this is a good video to educate others as to what Mazi is assigned to do and how he succeeded in doing it.

He seems one dimensional.

Can’t pass rush.

We all knew this after he was drafted. His college stats list him with 0.5 sacks in 30 games.

A lot of anointing oil was dumped on this player after the draft.

Dudes gonna get like 2-3 tackles a game.

I will go back and slow it down, watch it. TY. If Jeff does talk about Mazi in that light, then I'll throw him a bone for that. Like I said, on rare occasion he gets it right.

he eats space. Thats his job. He allows other dudes to eat. Every now and then he will shine and thats fine.

I don't care. That's not his job.
His job is to make the LB's life easier.

exactly, and we saw that last night. The linebackers were filling the gaps and making plays. Thats defense 101. I never seen a LB getting manhandled 5-10 yards down field all night. It was nice. We have major beef in the trenches.

Mazi literally was taking triple teams in that game. Man I swear some of yall just need to admit that you dont know football. Dude is a 1 tech not a 3 tech.

The “eats space” idea isn’t worth a 1st round pick.
I think Mazi will do more than just "eat space", but that's probably further down the road. As far as using a 1st round pick is concerned, it was a late 1st in a draft that wasn't particularly strong up top. I don't know if there were any other DT 's that they felt were as good as Mazi later in the draft.

We've been focusing on defense in the last few drafts, which is kind of new for Dallas. I can't remember us ever thinking that our defense was better than our offense before.
