Let’s revisit this beyond week 10 and see how his progress is…..he still won’t be great but should be taking baby steps and improving.

we’ve been waiting too long for this dude to not be patient
No doubt, I believe people may have been over hyping him too. Sure he's technically a first rounder but they had first round grades on less than 20 players so he's really a second round talent. IIRC DeMarcus Lawrence didn't even flash until late in his first season.

If Ridgeway beats out Payne or Allen, then Dallas really should be embarrassed. That would mean he is an All-Pro type player.

Mazi Smith is already better than Ridgeway.

If Ridgeway beats out the starters that would shock everyone . He’s rotational . Gallimore would not cut to get Ridgeway back .

Mazi did exactly what Mazi was drafted to do. He’s a 0/1 tech DT… not a 3T that is going to pressure the QB. He is supposed to take on double teams and allow LB’s, DE’s and the 3T to make the plays. When he doesn’t get doubled, he is supposed to push his guy back in the pocket so the QB can’t step up away from the ends.

Mazi will never have good stats or show up to casual fans on game day. Others will. If Parsons would have had Mazi pushing the pocket last year, he might would have had 19 sacks instead of his 13.5. So many times Micah beat his guy around the edge and the QB just stepped up and threw the ball while Parsons zoomed right behind the passer, just out of arms reach.

That is the value Mazi brings, and it will never be reflected in Mazi’s stats. Y’all just need to get ready for that.

I swear, I think I give some people way too much credit for them understanding football and knowing what they’re watching. Unvbelievable.

Overview
Dontari Poe might be the physical and athletic player comparison for Smith, but more consistency from Smith is needed before he finds the Pro Bowl, as Poe did twice in his career. Smith’s blend of size and quickness is rare. He can punch and control a base block with relative ease. However, he struggles to match the initial movement of move blockers, which diminishes his effectiveness. He has space-eating potential but needs to become more consistent at taking on double teams and securing his gap. Smith’s size and testing could give his draft slotting some juice but he’s more of a Day 2 talent with exciting upside than a plug-and-play starter.
Strengths
  • Possesses rare combination of size and athleticism.
  • Bendy and stout in his lower half.
  • Power to punch and lift blocker under his pads.
  • Plays with lively feet and short-area quickness.
  • Able to slide, swim and seize the gap.
  • Yanks and pulls guards off-balance from any direction.
  • Foot quickness to be part of a twisting rush unit.
Weaknesses
  • Hasn’t made many plays behind the line of scrimmage.
  • Motor runs out of gas when tempo heats up.
  • Slow reaction to movement gets him sealed.
  • Struggled against Iowa’s zone scheme attack.
  • Surprising lack of anchor consistency against double teams.
  • Unlikely to see many passing downs as a pro.

Mazi's not a pass rusher.

Dude had 0.5 sacks in 30 college games.

He averaged 2.9 tackles a game.

4.85 40 time.

I dont think hes the 2nd coming of Randy White.

Hope Im wrong.

A rookie has work to do, shocking.
More shocking how the eagles DL guy from Georgia made a GREAT play on his first play!! Mazi wasn't bad, but he didn't have a standout play for real, hell overshown had standout plays. Once again it's only one game, i'm not losing it

John Ridgeway is nothing more than a body he was what a 5th rounder . I wouldn’t mention him in a Mazi Smith rant . Smith has had one pre season game too early to start trashing .
Ridgeway seemed out of shape when he was here.

Dude just needed more time and work.

Thanks for the great explanation. It’s appreciated…
