He cannot translate his strength in the weight room into play on the field…at least yet. The disturbing part is he never did at UM either. He is getting pushed around like a JAG right now. We expect more from a first round pick but hopefully the coaches can realize his potential but it’s gonna be a 2-3 year project for sure.
Which is why we should drafted someone like this 2-3 years ago.

Wanna know what happened to Mazi? It was not having Zack Martin in camp, schooling him and teaching him. Mazi going up against scrubs all training camp did him no favors.

PSA: 1T are NEVER dominant their rookie year. They are college strong but not grown man strong and usually have zero technique because they’ve relied on their strength to this point.

Please find me a rockstar 1T their rookie year in all the histories of the NFL. Mazi is fine and he will be fine. Every huge rush came off tackle last night . Mazi actually did pretty well stuffing the middle. He got turned maybe twice by starting veteran OL in the NFL. Calling him a bust is laughably premature.

Then you have a low bar. NO matter what, great players show talent. And first round picks typically show more than Mazi is showing.

I still have hopes for the kid, but they have taken a big hit. And as far as this year? He would have to turn it around quickly.
This is why the world has ditch diggers and laborers. They have no expectations and expect next to nothing from anyone, including themselves.

Yeah because it's asking too much for our first rounder to at least go out there and make an impression!

Yet having Zack Martin there would have provided the missing teaching part. I predict that while Mazi won't be ready for week 1, as the season progresses he will improve and we'll start to see flashes of dominant play and he'll get more consistent towards the end of the season.

We hope for dominant, but we will settle for impressions right now!!

Yes all the cowboy picks should just get off the bus kicking everyone’s tail. Relax Francis .

I wasn't too excited by the Mazi pick, but I got the thought process of picking him.

1. Mazi needed to work on his game if you watched his college tape, so there's going to be an adjust period...he has to develop.

2. Expectations for Mazi was out of wack imo. I always thought of Mazi as a Carlos Watkins replacement, not a guy who's going to start over Big Hank or Osa. If you look at him as a rotational 1T/3T guy you may not be as disappointed.
