Mazi supreme disappointment

Fanzone supreme disappointment

This forum is filled with experts who really don’t know diddly.

It’s been two preseason games yet if he’s not on track for HOF is a “supreme disappointment”. Even worse, you’re calling it the greatest cowboy bust of all time.

I hate it here sometimes
Relax, posters here are still in preseason form.
They will bring their " A" game once the regular season starts....
:lmao:

Don't put ANY eggs in the pre season basket. Form your opinions when the starting roster is assembled.

Mazi has in my opinion looked awful in both preseason games. For all the touting his size, strength, and so on just dont see it here. He is pushed around willy nilly on the line and dont believe this is befitting a first round draft pick. I am predicting a bust of Taco proportions here. Just one of the worst pics in Cowboys history. And now with the possibility of Overshown being gone for the season a disastrous 2023 draft. We cannot get to the next level with misses like these and that has been the history in Dallas.
He was good the first for what is rationally expected of him. People got deluded into think he would hit the ground as a 3 down DT capable of rushing the pass. Game 1 he did his job. Game 2 he was bad

:hammer: .....just wait until this offense starts to struggle. Only thing keeping that 12-5 record together was Kellen Moore. After the writing is on the wall...we will all be able to look back and realize this was the worst off season in team history.

He's a bust bc of two preseason games?

Dude step off the freaking ledge, that's the most ridiculous statement
After watching NOBODIES have their way against the Cowboys top pick who was expected to be our savior against the run, YES this dude is a bust. I can't wait to watch this slug go against the studs in this league, this dude is in real trouble. Our top two picks, both from Michigan are a joke and are dam lucky the Cowboys drafted them because if they played for anybody else, they'd both be late rd draft picks in danger of being cut before the start of the season. Our GM should have learned his lesson about drafting Michigan players when he failed miserably by drafting Taco back in 2017.

I'm going to wait before judging Mazi but to call Overshown a miss is wrong. He got hurt. Period. If the number one overall pick (Young from Carolina) tore his ACL would that be a miss ?

Overshown was a great pi k (where they took him).

Can't ding jerruh for Overshown tearing his MCL.

You drafted a run stuffer in 2023 with your first round pick..

What exactly are you expecting?

You guys want run stuffers that are boring and do nothing but clog a lane then complain when that’s all they do.
In fairness to the complainers, I think their perspective is that the supposed run stuffer we drafted in this current passing league, ISN’T clogging lanes but is being manhandled far too often.

In preseason? No. It would be nice, but I won't look for it in a DT. A lot can change over a season.
Oh, In preseason you have no expectation...okay...
Do you have any expectation from Mazi in the regular season?

You should watch this entire video. I think you don’t really understand how the DTs are schemed.

The truth lies in the middle. He's not been awful or a bust or a major disappointment but even the video points out his play is really up and down. He's been so-so. Personally, I was hoping he'd be less of a project as he has been up until now. Hopefully over the rest of camp and early in the season we see some major growth by him. He's an important cog IMO for this defense.

Well stated.

- I knew with some fans there was gonna be a totally knee jerk reaction with Mazi.

- Some folks not gonna understand that his development is not gonna be an overnight success, and they will 'demand' that Mazzi be
All pro the minute he steps onto the playing field.

- If he shows some struggles, they are gonna totally jump all over his back like a gang of mosquitoes...

- His slow get off something he has had for years at Michigan, so it's gonna take a bit of time to develop new techniques and habit.
His shed and leverage techniques and awareness are subpar at this very early stage,
- Mazzi simply has to learn those techniques and learn the NFL nuisances of trench wars ..that takes time .

But we're gonna have disgruntled knee jerk reaction fans that refuse to accept development time.

That's how most DTs work when they get drafted. They don't show up for a year or two. I don't know why this surprises people. Vita Vea sucked in his rookie year. It took Quinnen Williams the better part of two years before he started playing as expected. That's to be expected from a DT.
Great point. Williams was terrible for almost two years. Jet fans wanted him cut.

A hundred million later…

I just don’t see how any conclusions can be drawn by two preseason games. Do they even game plan?

You do realize that having starters around him will improve his play too right? You also realize this was only his 2nd NFL preseason game...takes time dude, relax

You better pinch yourself, this club is in deep trouble because it has no depths at key positions. The top two Michigan picks would be cut on other teams and to top it off our 3 rd pick who looks very promising is staring surgery straight in the eye. Top 3 my ***............LOL!
You are nuts. This is their best roster in decades.

Why would the offense struggle? Pollard, Deuce, Lamb, Cooks, Gallup, Tolbert, Ferguson, Schoonmaker, and the starting oline and Dak. This offense isn't going to struggle.

I'm hoping he's a solid DT next year. If we're lucky, he starts at some point this season.

In fairness, I believe Quennin Williams got hurt his rookie year early (ankle or knee) and it hampered him much of the year.
He was also picked #3 overall vs pick 26. That’s a dramatic difference in talent level. The fact anyone is even comparing him to Williams at this point would seem to be a compliment.
