He was our first round pick and didn’t start. Our defense was on the field a lot because of the blocked field goal for a TD and the pick-six. Mazi only got 17 snaps and didn’t play well. It’s been the same theme since pre-season. If he doesn’t start coming around in the next few weeks, how confident are you that he’s going to be end up being a good player that’s going to see a second contract? Our first round pick should be starting. It’s starting to look like we may have missed on our first two picks. Granted it’s still early, but I was expecting better than this.

It is pretty obvious, thus the lol.

If he thinks Bohanna is comparable to Mazi, then he’s an even worse judge of players than I thought he was.

That was one play, he was up and down and he didn’t start. Not good when you draft a player in the first round and they’re not starting and only get 17 snaps.

That's what I'm thinking as well. Not going to throw the guy away. Would just prefer our #1 picks be an actual upgrade of someone who is starting. Not saying he won't be, it's just harder to accept it will take time with a #1 pick. Impatient.

If he’s not pushing Hankins for the starting job at some point this season, then he’s not likely to ever be what we’re looking for. He may end up serviceable, but you’re looking for a lot more than that from a first round pick. Hankins only cost us a seventh round pick.

My opinion of Mazi is never going to make me look near as foolish as some of the fans that were boasting about how great Vaughn will be and were comparing him to Barry Sanders prior to the regular season. One fan predicted he would lead the team in touches this season. First of all, I haven’t thrown in the towel on Mazi, but if he can’t overtake Jonathan Hankins for the starting job this season he’s not likely to become a great player. He may end up pretty good and serviceable, but not a “great” player. Certainly not the type of player you’re hoping for in the first round. If Mazi does become a good player fans like you will claim that I said he was going to suck. Lol Some of you will twist every comment I’ve made about him.

More like leeriness I think. Leeriness to me means "not sure", not necessarily wanting anything. Just not confident. Yep, for sure fence-sitting but anyone not fence-sitting on Mazi at this point is kind of silly, especially with a #1 pick. Sheesh.

And maybe he will but that won’t be heavily done week 1, probably won’t be week 2 or 3 either. Pass rushing in the nfl is one of the toughest transitions to make from college and mazi really didn’t rush the passer much in college.

Bryan bresee and Felix Anudike-Uzomah were 1st round dl taken right around the same time as mazi was. FAU had 19 snaps, Bresee had 26 in their games this week. These guys take time more often than not.

What is a great player? Perennial all pro? I don't see that for mazi either. Daron payne has been in the NFL 5 years and has 1 pro bowl. Do I see mazi doing that? Eventually yes.
