McCarthy forcing the run in the red zone was very telling

Maybe (likely) he will.

Doesn't change the fact that McCarthy isn't a great OC and certainly is not being held back from greatness by Dak.

But you certainly seem to have convinced yourself of that.
And you have convinced yourself otherwise.

If they are so scared to let him throw in the RZ, then why did they let him do it earlier on other RZ trips.

To me, this was McCarthy getting cute thinking he was outfoxing the Cards DC. He figured they were goign to guess we would pass given the time situation and he would take advantage by running.

It fits with his overall "cuteness" and overthinking we see in the RZ from him. Like the stupid Lamb motion that turns into an option play that goes for nothing. Even the announcers were perplexed at the play call/design.
I’m just addressing the claim they didn’t have enough time and the game was essentially over. That’s absurd, as 3 minutes is more than enough time.

The motion option play, if it’s the one I think you are referring to, they ran a lot with Moore.

Do I even need to say anything as far as this angle is concerned.

I've convinced myself that we have an average/decent QB paired with an average/decent OC and what you get is average/decent offensive production that will likely come derailed against better defensive competition.

You seem to think if yuo subtract Dak from the equation and give McCarthy a better QB he's gonna light it up and this team is going to dominate. I think that's a bit foolish.

And people still want to blame Kellen....

The fact Mods around here keep erasing Kellen appreciation posts...is telling. You can't deflect for #4 forever...
Kellen is still trash. This doesn’t absolve him. You could always head on over to the chargers forum and become part of their fan base.

I don't seem to recall them running a lot of option plays where Dak is running a college style option play to a WR.

But maybe I just don't remember. Regardless, it's a bizarre call regardless of who made it.

Typical Dak cover up post. Well just go pull for another team. Are you 10 years old?

Good point. This brings up the elephant in the room. If Dak signs an extension and it’s in the Jalen Hurts or Joe Burrow level, 50 or 50+ million APY, then we won’t be able to afford an elite defense. Also we’ll have trouble keeping the Tyler Smiths and Tyler BDZs. So what we saw today is Dak can’t beat the worst team in the league without an elite defense and a sub par offensive line. So this will be life if he signs an extension for 50 million. Dak is an average to above average player and he plays great when all the other parts are clicking. But when the other parts aren’t clicking he can’t overcome it. We can’t pay an average player elite money. If we do then this is the result we’ll get. Very conservative QB play with untimely mistakes and a poor supporting cast.

Dak is not the complete reason we lost today. The defense was. Defense was 75% of the fault and the offense was 25%. My concern is when the defense sucks so does Dak. But if Dak gets paid another massive sum then other parts of the team will suck and Dak isn’t good enough to overcome it.

For me that’s why this one hurts so much. I was fooled into thinking Dak turned the corner. But when your coach is coaching out of fear that the QB will screw up, then Dak hasn’t turned the corner. It sucks. I really wanted to believe he turned the corner. I guess I tried to talk myself into it.
They said the same thing when Dak signed for 40m and yet the elite defense still existed. The Cowboys are not in a situation where they could not afford whoever they wanted. They could sign every single member of their defense and Dak without a single issue to the cap.

The defense can do that once in awhile. It’s expected that a franchise QB Carrie’s a team, since they have the ball in their hands the most..
Expecting a qb to be perfect no matter his pay, status, or team's performance is a quick way to be disappointed... which I see alot of around here after a loss.

I never said he wouldn't. You assumed that. My point is pretty clear. The QB is limited but the OC is also limited regardless of who plays QB (well maybe if he had Mahomes who could make even the most mediocre OC look great). There is nothing that McCarthy does that makes me think if you give him a better QB he's going to show he's a dominant, creative play caller. He wasn't that in GB and it cost him his job. And when he was announced as replacing Moore, a lot of people raised questions about the move.

If this season fizzle out, there is no reason to bring him back. If you want to send Dak packing too, fine by me. But there is no scenario where I would say hey cut Dak but let's keep McCarthy. That's just silly IMO and basically just repeating the same crazy logic we kept trying to use with Garrett.

How about a dam read option play... it freaking works... idk how many times dak is gonna fake that run and nobody is near him. It has worked for us in the past, I don't understand why we don't use it more in the red zone.

So now the standard for Dak is “perfect”…. Maybe you guys need to stop making excuses. Yardage by defense given up doesn’t mean points on the board…. Dallas was 21st in the red zone going into this game, meaning Dak had multiple chances to be less than perfect, but he’s mediocre..

Who said he needed to be perfect?
Church of Dak folks think that people are expecting perfection. When in reality all anyone is expecting is that you step up when asked to. When you need to make the throw you at least stick it from time to time. Keep the offense competitive instead of struggling in the Red Zone. But naw, we are somehow trying to defend the incompetence of Dak Prescott with claims that people are asking for perfection.

McCarthy has proven to be confused by clock management since he’s been here And the red zone play calling was really bad today. Poor game by him and of course everyone else. But it’s one game and there are 14 more to go. I’m looking forward to next week and hopefully watching this team show us this week was not who we really are…
