As long as Jerry Jones is large and in charge, it won't matter who the coach is. Jones will never hire a coach who will outshine him, have a backbone or truly command the locker room and roster in the manner that it needs to be. So, if McCarthy comes back, it's irrelevant to where the real problem is.

Yeah, but he's 62 and where is he gonna go and make that much of a difference? He had Aaron Rodgers for the entirety of his prime and only managed 1 Super Bowl. I think he's happy with a team where the expectations are not Super Bowl. Its low stress.
Aaron Rodgers didn't win anything without him.

I'm glad there are so many coaching experts in here.
One does not have to be an expert to see years of certain results and make a fairly accurate statement on it. It is pretty self-evident to anyone with at least half a brain.

It really doesn't matter what coach we get. Jerry will sabotage it. Parcells couldn't even completely overcome the meddling and culture of Jerry and he had more control than any coach since Johnson. We need a coach that would stand up to Jerry and demand some control to instill actual discipline and that's something Jerry won't tolerate.

So McCarthy or not, we're screwed. Anyone who believes otherwise didn't learn the lessons of the 49ers playoff game and the Packers playoff game. McCarthy is an okay coach. I won't say he's a good coach because he doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to do what's right for the team. He'd rather say "Yes, sir" and collect the paycheck and let Jerry keep undermining things.
You’re exactly right.

Which is why when our fans blame the HC, the QB, the assistant coaches, etc, it plays right into the Jones “model” of leadership. Insulates himself from accountability and places bullseyes on the mid-level people in the organization for HIS mistakes. Jerry loves seeing fans blame BigMac, Dak, Parsons…Romo, Garrett, Parcells…the list is endless.

The lack of accountability at the very top of this organization is exactly the kind of sickness that will ALWAYS dog this team. It’s as clear as it could possibly be. As long as Jerry is GM we are screwed. We could have Pat Mahomes and Andy Reid and we would lose in round one of the playoffs next year.

Listen Mike is a good coach his teams are always competitive and he’s done great work with limited QB’s throughout his career, he’s won a superbowl and before coming to Dallas had a winning record in the playoffs. He’s respected in the league so this isn’t surprising. Our fanbase is overly emotional.
People act like we’re gonna get some young hotshot SB winning HC to come in here and make wholesale changes. The reality is there isn’t one, and JJ and SJ will not give up control.
There are not many coaches with Mikes resume and pedigree out there.
If you want Jerry to keep coaching then resign Mike.

Yes but Jerry will also have an opportunity to make an offer to McCarthy before he even interviews with another team. Mike may have to turn down the Cowboys job just in hopes that he can land another gig, it certainly wont be guaranteed. The timeline of everything certainly isnt on McCarthys side.
I believe he can entertain offers from other teams in seven days. Other coaches on the staff can as well. Jerry’s “timeline” is pretty much how fast he knows what he wants to do.

I don’t even know how it would work since this situation virtually never happens, but Jerrys got it handled I’m sure.

You’d think since players are under contract until the start of the new league year, so are the coaches. Allowing things like interviews for promotions are generally a courtesy.

But again, I really don’t know. When was the last example of a lame duck HC who was coveted by other teams?

McCarthy’s archaic offensive principles aside, why would anyone want a coach who is so bad with game management, time management, and end of game scenarios? And one who gets blown out so regularly including in huge games?

Right, because we wouldn't have Chris Jones and/or we wouldn't have Travis Kelce, etc. Football is a team game. There have been great QBs who never won a Super Bowl and coaches like Reid have showed they have to be in the right situation for that kind of success.

I don't blame McCarthy. I just want him to go because he's been given his five years and we have plenty of evidence that he can't skirt the Joneses to get the job done. The evidence shows that maybe no one can, but I'd rather give someone else a try than just keep things as they are.

People still defending MM really boggles my mind, how many excuses can you continue to come up with. The coach should have been fired after the playoff debacle at home against SF when they committed the most penalties in boys history, then after completely having his team unprepared to play a home playoff game last year, on top of being arguably the worst clock management head coach I’ve ever seen, and THIS is not even mentioning his awful play calling this year taking them over. I hope that some other team forces jerry to let this guy go, it will be the first step to headed back in a better direction
The GM Jerry is a big enough excuse for any HC.

I agree with this but if he's on multiple teams list, there's a very good he will get an offer from at least one. I would bet a red penny his agent knows which team. I can see the Saints, Jets, and Jags as good fits IMO.
