One can say discipline and other garbage all one wants, but we have one of the youngest teams in the league and played mostly guys who have no real NFL experience. Penalties by young guys trying to make the team or a name are to be expected. I expect better in preseason game 2 and when our starters hit the field.
I thought there would be more flags than were thrown

Denver didn’t play many if any starters either and we had 17 penalties compared to 8 for them. It is something to get worked up over because this was a huge problem last season and we picked up where we left off. We only have two more preseason games to work this out.

If they lead the league in penalties again during the season then I'll get worked up about it–Not that it really does anything.

This is what we signed up for when we hired Fat Mike. He's not a good coach. He's here to collect a paycheck and that's it. No other team was going to hire him. We had a chance to shake things up after the disgusting Garrett era and hired a has been coach who only had any ounce of success because of Rodgers. And this coming from someone who thinks Rodgers is extremely overrated. It was nothing more than a "safe" hire. Nothing innovative about him. He's generic. Coupled with doubling down on our terrible OC and we get what we get.

nah man… if he says that he talked about it with the team after the game you guys will still sh** on him… there is no right answer here for this man not to get criticized unfairly
really? so you are saying he is being professional talking to the public and basically saying the media is exaggerating the severity of the problem?
I will give leeway by saying this is first preseason game, but regular season is sooner than you think and if a player cannot manage his own discipline, you bench them till they do period or gone if they do not.
We have had enough of these pansy coaches who are more afraid of there players than there owner apparently. Need more Billl Parcell-like coaches in the league. Tighten up or get them out.

Yeah.

That's not a good answer.

That's a no accountability answer.

This sounds like a man that knows he's gone and frankly, if his answer is any indication of how he really feels, then I prefer him gone. We don't need this mindset in the locker room, especially as the head coach.

No he doesn't, the writer left out where he said the penalties weren't good enough. And they would address them.
He said that at the end of last year and the beginning of training camp. As I said he needs to change his response and address the issue, because it has not appeared to change on the field. The team finish the year leading the league in penalties and guess what, we lead the preseason in penalties.

No he doesn't. What else is he suppose to say. What he days isn't changing the outcome.

Yes its the preseason and as anyone who has ever done anything you become what you practice and if you are committing penalties now you will be committing them later. It also does not help that the Cowboys have a reputation for committing penalties now so refs will be looking for them (also known as Raiders syndrome).

It’s become a self fulfilling prophecy. The Cowboys are the most penalized, so they watch them more closely, see more “questionable” plays, flag them more…

He's right.

Most of those penalties were horrible calls. What's he supposed to correct about those?

The Cowboys have the rep, so throw the flag!

I predict we’ll have LESS penalties than last year, but two things WILL happen:

1)Cowboy penalties, “dirty” Cowboys, Hollywood Cowboys, etc., etc., will all be hot topic$ for sports “journalists” this year.

2)We get bounced from the playoffs because of one or two penalties that happen at the worst possible time.
