Can we just win the Super Bowl and then talk about how great the FO/coaching are?
biggest question for me is would they bring in fresh blood. mcclay had to rise through the ranks. not sure they’d just bring in a replacementWhile I appreciate the difficulty of drafting (perhaps here is more difficult due to ownership) and I think McClay deserves some credit .... it's also fairly easy to find failures too. Would it be the worst thing if we brought in some fresh blood?
DQ - Defense has been much better overall since his arrival but I can't fault him for taking another shot at HC. Nor do I think it impossible to find someone who can keep this team headed in the right direction. If someone came in & got our trenches so I wasn't worried about being gashed for 10 on every play, that would be a good start toward making me happy.
It's not money. Jerry is paying McClay very well, and he'd up that as needed.
This is about title, although Will has never seemed to care about that so far.
The shine wears off quickly with another fast Playoff exit. Can we just win the Super Bowl and then talk about how great the FO/coaching are?
Are you kidding? I’ll bet Jerry pays him more than most gms get.Jerry hasn't done anything professionally for Clay to desrve keeping him.
I'm guessing he already does. What McClay wants will be in whether he even takes an interview. Money won't be the issue if he does. Are you kidding? I’ll bet Jerry pays him more than most gms get.
Quinn is likely gone from what I’ve heard from several reliable Cowboys sources including David Moore and Bob Sturm. Both of those guys have said emphatically that the talk behind the scenes is clear, he wants a HC job again.I don’t see either leaving, especially for Carolina but it is a unique opportunity so nothing is completely surprising.
Wouldn’t bet on it though.
So you don't think McClay sees himself as a qualified and capable GM who could be the lead personnel guy? He's going to get paid doing that elsewhere when opportunity presents itself. Are you kidding? I’ll bet Jerry pays him more than most gms get.
The guy we can LEAST AFFORD to lose is Will McClay. Without McClay, this organization is back to playing fantasy football with Jerry and Giggles.
People are really hung up on the money. I am sure McClay is handsomely rewarded already. I don't think it will matter too much IF McClay decides to go. It will be the new challenge and not having to run every decision by Jerry and NepoSo you don't think Clay sees himself as a qualified and capable GM who could be the lead personnel guy? Completely fair question. But someone in the ranks might just turn out to be someone who has some different viewpoints.biggest question for me is would they bring in fresh blood. mcclay had to rise through the ranks. not sure they’d just bring in a replacement
Hopefully they've learned their lesson. Problem is, they probably still think they are "football" guys. They want so desperately to be.
I remember how bad it was. I hope everyone else does, especially the man who signs the paychecks - Jerry.
Washington now seems to be a very attractive spot with the new ownership and lots of good draft picks.I don’t see either leaving, especially for Carolina but it is a unique opportunity so nothing is completely surprising.
Wouldn’t bet on it though.
In their defense, they are football guys. Both played through college. Jerry never made it a career until the bought the team. I don't know how long Stephen dallied in non-football business before Jerry bought the team. I really believe though that once Stephen takes over it will also be back to normal. Stephen doesn't strike me as a guy who wants the attention like Jerry. Even his radio show, which I think he has out of obligation of position more than wanting it.. He is very careful never to reveal too much, and always gives credit where credit is due. I could easily see him going into the shadows and letting a bigger GM run it, especially if that person were McClay.Hopefully they've learned their lesson. Problem is, they probably still think they are "football" guys. They want so desperately to be.
