McClay and Quinn leave together?

I can't see that happening, IE McClay having a stronger relationship with Quinn than Jones.

almost every year McClay's name is mentioned for GM and he stays here. Carolina is a dump. Washington traded away pieces and has no QB.
The only place I could see is San Diego. QB and some core defensive players there. But, I'd be surprised if Quinn is hired after their last HC was a defensive minded

While I appreciate the difficulty of drafting (perhaps here is more difficult due to ownership) and I think McClay deserves some credit .... it's also fairly easy to find failures too. Would it be the worst thing if we brought in some fresh blood?

DQ - Defense has been much better overall since his arrival but I can't fault him for taking another shot at HC. Nor do I think it impossible to find someone who can keep this team headed in the right direction. If someone came in & got our trenches so I wasn't worried about being gashed for 10 on every play, that would be a good start toward making me happy.
biggest question for me is would they bring in fresh blood. mcclay had to rise through the ranks. not sure they’d just bring in a replacement

I just can't imagine DQ actually being interested in the Panthers job, just a horrid situation there. LA would be a prime destination as they have some talent and a big name at QB. Feels like it would be in their best interest to bring in an offensive minded HC though to create some stability for Herbert.

Are you kidding? I’ll bet Jerry pays him more than most gms get.
I'm guessing he already does. What McClay wants will be in whether he even takes an interview. Money won't be the issue if he does.

I don’t see either leaving, especially for Carolina but it is a unique opportunity so nothing is completely surprising.

Wouldn’t bet on it though.
Quinn is likely gone from what I’ve heard from several reliable Cowboys sources including David Moore and Bob Sturm. Both of those guys have said emphatically that the talk behind the scenes is clear, he wants a HC job again.

Frankly, having a great assistant coach leave (like Quinn) is a very normal occurrence when you are winning. During the glory years of the 70s and 90s, the Cowboys lost some great assistant coaches to HC jobs. Guys like Dan Reeves, Mike Ditka, Gene Stallings, Dave Wannstedt, Butch Davis, and Sean Payton (in 2004) were all scooped up by other teams when we were successful. It’s just what happens when your team is doing well.

The guy we can LEAST AFFORD to lose is Will McClay. Without McClay, this organization is back to playing fantasy football with Jerry and Giggles.

So you don't think McClay sees himself as a qualified and capable GM who could be the lead personnel guy? He's going to get paid doing that elsewhere when opportunity presents itself.

People are really hung up on the money. I am sure McClay is handsomely rewarded already. I don't think it will matter too much IF McClay decides to go. It will be the new challenge and not having to run every decision by Jerry and Nepo

Completely fair question. But someone in the ranks might just turn out to be someone who has some different viewpoints.

I am no fan of Quinn. He is replaceable. McClay has quietly built great rosters and the draft output is noticeably better. By a lot. He is definitely the adult in the room with Jerry and Sonny Boy. His loss would be devastating. 2 years after that happened I think this could be a dumpster fire again. Jerry needs to grow a brain and make Will the GM and give him a big comp bump.

Im not to worried about losing Quinn. Not really happy this Season atleast the later part of it with the Defense and his schemes. Might be burned out here and peaked.

Finding a good DC will be much easier than the brain of your whole Franchise (McClay). If McClay is gone this Franchise will be back into the dumpster fire.

Washington now seems to be a very attractive spot with the new ownership and lots of good draft picks.

Hopefully they've learned their lesson. Problem is, they probably still think they are "football" guys. They want so desperately to be.
In their defense, they are football guys. Both played through college. Jerry never made it a career until the bought the team. I don't know how long Stephen dallied in non-football business before Jerry bought the team. I really believe though that once Stephen takes over it will also be back to normal. Stephen doesn't strike me as a guy who wants the attention like Jerry. Even his radio show, which I think he has out of obligation of position more than wanting it.. He is very careful never to reveal too much, and always gives credit where credit is due. I could easily see him going into the shadows and letting a bigger GM run it, especially if that person were McClay.
