I watched many Raider games while living in SF. The guy is not as bad as it appears yet not superstar material. He is a solid back that was in a bad situation. He can block and get some long runs.

Ah, that's my favorite type of RB. Just blame the O-Line. And when you do produce it's all because of how great you are, the O-Line had nothing to do with it. Did somebody introduce him to Chris Johnson yet? Something tells me you'll get along JUST FINE with our O-Line. Either throw them under the bus or take credit for all the success they allow you to have. Clown.

Seriously, the guy needs to shut up. He was flat out awful last year. In fact he's been awful in his entire career pretty much, except for when the Raiders blocked well that one year I think. Hey, Darren, you're nothing more than a 3rd down back. Good receiver, decent speed. That's it. You're not a RB. Not a good one anyway. The last time you broke a tackle...actually I don't remember you ever breaking a tackle. Just shut up and do your job. No need to throw people under the bus when you pretty much stunk.

Does he still have that burst? I have no idea when these games were, but if he's still got speed like that? Woo boy. He's gonna break some here.

Not sure, but I saw an interview with DC.com (?) whereas he said his speed is still there.

If our OL - in its 2nd year together so they should be even better this year - opens the same holes, we will see a few more runs like that video.

Think about it. Randle had a few long TD runs. Murray had none.

I just watched McFadden do things in that clip that Murray just can't do, he's strong fast and alusuvive and big. He can be unstoppable behind our oline. I don't care what his ypc while in Oakland, Dallas isn't Oakland. He'll be playing in a real offense with a top notch QB a beast at receiver and the best oline in football. THAT'S NOT OAKLAND.

I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm. His OL was putrid at best. No true weapons around him. He went against 8 in the box (again, no weapons around him to make the defense honest). He got hit behind the LOS a lot. Yet he still broke runs like that... he's 27, in his prime, wants to be here, has incentives to ball out, might be his last shot in the NFCL, etc etc - I expect him to bring it to be honest.

I totally agree! Murray led the league in rushing but he also led the league in rushing yards before contact and that all falls on the oline, I want to see McFadden in that open field with his speed. He can definitely close the deal. I'm very excited to see him in this offense.

At worst, he provides a presence as a good nickel RB. He's a smooth pass catcher, route runner and reliable in pass-pro. Maybe the plan is to limit his carries and use him primarily in this role. Perhaps the hammer is coming in the draft.

That's they way I see it unfolding. I mean, if this was a few years ago a couple things would have happened. First and foremost, JJ would have opened his check book and COMPLETELY overpaid. Secondly, if by some weird quirk he didn't do that then they would trade up in the first round and reach for someone like Mo Claiborne.(and by moving up and reaching burn the 3rd rounder needed to get a VERY good RB)

Looks like those days are over thankfully. I fully expect us to take a RB....the only question is which one and where? Again, it will just depend on how the draft falls. I think it will happen in the 3rd or 4th round which should result in Ajayi or one of the Johnsons (Duke or David)

Team one of those kids with Ryan WIlliams and McFadden and we could very well be set at RB for years to come. I won't lie though...it's a little unsettling to think they might stand pat at this point. (Williams, McFadden, Randle and/or Dunbar) I'm pretty confident they aren't regressing as a front office, but the old days still haunt my memories somewhat.

This draft is too rich in RB talent to not take one at some point, especially taking into account the current roster. I agree, they probably don't take one until the 3rd round barring Gurley dropping to 27.

And 4.1 yards per carry avg

I am not as worried about breaking long runs. Those are bonuses to me.

I am worried about the "dirty yards" that Garrett talks about. 3rd and 1. 4th and 1 with 9 in the box runs. Can he do those? Those are bigger runs to me than long break aways runs.

I think he can be a breakaway back behind the Cowboys offensive line, just not a full time back.

Without an OL , all RB's and QB's will look like garbage............

That is why we signed Jed Collins
