Thank you sir. He certainly makes some errant throws from time to time, but he is growing and making less mistakes than previously.

I really can't believe this is your honest opinion.

You don't think Eli Manning is held to a higher standard ?
Matt Leinart ?
Etc., I hope you are kidding.

No because if he was he would be on the bench with that hat on his head. Look, we all know if eli was black he would have been either cut or on the bench. I don;t really care about but you see this in the NFL all the time. The same thing will happen with Jamarcus russell, he will have 3 years to get the radiers to the playoffs or close if that.

I think a lot of you are missing the point. I never said white qb's don;t get CRITICIZED, i just said that they are not expected to do certain things like black qb's like RUN. Tony Romo for example, is a mobile QB and it's viewed as a bonus but not really a requirement. On the otherhand, blacks qb's are expected to run-I DON"T KNOW WHY but they are. How do I know? because doug williams was less mobile than eli manning and was cut. Randall cunningham was a scrambler and had a ten year career.

First of all, rex grossman is BELOW AVERAGE. so he is a bad example, i'm just saying it's ok to be a AVERAGE QB if you are white but if you are black you have to be ABOVE average. I'm not trying to start a debate just pointing how the way the league is. You are not going to tell me the white QB's below are not AVERAGE QB's

joey harrington
john kitna
chad pennington
kyle boller

If you are black qb and avergae, the you will be CUT or on the bench getting ready to be cut like

Dante Culpepper
Byrin Leftwich

Are you kidding????? Chad Pennington has a 130.5 QB rating and Jon Kitna has a 94.7 QB rating. Jon Kitna lit our defense up last year. Kyle Boller and Joey Harrington are decent as backup quarterbacks. Don't expect Joey Harrington to start that many more games. The Falcons are already talking to Leftwich, and I don't think they invited him to Atlanta to discuss McNabb's comments. Dante Culpepper is still trying to recover from injuries. Miami took a huge risk and felt that he wouldn't pan out. Oakland has him now. If he recovers, the Raiders will start him. If not, he will be cut. His situation has nothing to do with the color of his skin.

Leftwich was never expected to run and was drafted 8th overall. He had the mobility of Bernie Kosar. I don't recall Warren Moon being a running QB either.

"I try to handle myself with class. I try to handle myself with dignity. I think sometimes people look to players to act out, speak loudly, pretty much be an idiot. But that's not me."
LOL, yet everytime he does an interview he stirs up some type of controversy. Its just that he says things in a calm manner during a private interview - yet he still comes off looking like an idiot. actually idiot may not be the right word, but he is not aware of how he is perceived or how his words will go over. The very thing he tries to prevent, he actually ends up causing - he goes so far out of his way to try and create the illusion that he is mr class all the way around, and its the rest of the world that is hating on him that he comes off like a martyr. And people hate that more than someone like TO mouthing off about the organization in the heat of the moment after a loss.

Warren Moon was not your typical black qb, very accurate and not a runner. One of my favorites actually from the 1990's

I think McNabb has a point, though it certainly isn't all about race. McNabb isn't nearly as inaccurate as people like to say he is, and he's been a very successful quarterback in this league. The fact that Philly fans are idiots and don't know how to appreciate a good player, is a completely different matter.

McNabb has had to play with average WR's for most of his career, and the one year he had a star (T.O.), they went to the superbowl and he put up amazing stats.

I think that being white, a lot of people are quick to just say, "Aw shut up and quit your whining.", but no one knows what McNabb goes thorough or has gone through to get where he is.

Report: McNabb says black QBs under more pressure

ESPN.com news services

Updated: September 18, 2007, 9:30 AM ETAfrican-American quarterbacks face more pressure and more criticism than their white counterparts, Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb says in an interview scheduled to air on HBO on Tuesday night.

McNabb, in an interview on "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel," tells interviewer James Brown that African-American quarterbacks such as himself face added pressure because there are fewer black QBs -- and because some still don't want black athletes playing the position. "There's not that many African-American quarterbacks, so we have to do a little bit extra," McNabb tells HBO. "Because the percentage of us playing this position, which people didn't want us to play ... is low, so we do a little extra."Later in the interview, Brown presses McNabb on criticism of his performance -- and if African-American QBs are graded more harshly.

"I pass for 300 yards, our team wins by seven, [mimicking] 'Ah, he could've made this throw, they would have scored if he did this,' " McNabb tells HBO.

"Doesn't every quarterback go through that?" Brown asks. "Not everybody," McNabb replies.Brown then asks if the media is tougher on him than on white quarterbacks such as Carson Palmer and Peyton Manning.

"Let me start by saying I love those guys," McNabb tells HBO. "But they don't get criticized as much as we do. They don't."

In the interview, McNabb also talks to Brown about playing in Philadelphia, a city known for passionate sports fans who aren't afraid to criticize the city's pro athletes.

"Every year I'm part of some criticism," McNabb tells HBO. "But every day that we go through life, you're faced with a lot of adversity. Now the answer is how do you handle the adversity. How do you respond?

"I try to handle myself with class. I try to handle myself with dignity. I think sometimes people look to players to act out, speak loudly, pretty much be an idiot. But that's not me."

The problem is: unlike this quote,

"I try to handle myself with class. I try to handle myself with dignity. I think sometimes people look to players to act out, speak loudly, pretty much be an idiot. But that's not me."

he does go out of his way to be vocal and draw attention to himself. And the results fall rather short. Rather than coming off as an individual with dignity and class, he tends to sound like he's complaining.

A class individual would sound more like,

It's unfortunate that because of the profile of the position and the expectations of an entire city, things sometimes become more than most of us would like to handle. But it's the walk in life I chose, and I'm going to use it as motivation and keep persevering.

Now which of those paragraphs sounds like someone that is up to the challenge?

He's being paid far more money than almost all of us will see in a lifetime, and leads his team (at least in theory) and still he feels persecuted? Sounds like he picked the wrong profession.

As his career goes on, McNabb has gotten worse and worse at conducting interviews. Intelligence isn't his strong point... he's not eloquent... and like most football players, he really needs to just shut up.

Black QBs make up 15.6% of starters in NFl. Higher than population would suggest.

I disagree with this. I like McNabb. Always have. I think he's very intelligent, but I do think he has a bit of a persecution complex when it comes to being criticized. He's doing his best so he thinks all criticism is therefore unfair.

He's wrong.

I think he's intelligent in a common sense, smart way of living way. You look at the life he's built himself, the way he conducts himself off the field, and he's a classy guy. But he's not smart enough to be eloquent, or to accurately relate his thoughts. He should stick to football and family life, not complicated issues like race perceptions. He's no Kennedy or Reagan, he's more like a Bush or Dukakis.

I have said for a while now McNabb is a fake. He is not what he media has tried to portray in the past.
He is a baby and thinks he is bigger than he is, and I definetly question his leadership skills.

I always looked at the T.O. thing as if it was just as much him as T.O.

The media never saw it that way, they acted like McNabb could do know wrong.
