I agree, DC. The eagles have also never had a dominant running back to pair with McNabb.

I compare McNabb with Elway, a great player that has not had the help to get over the top.

I think a dominant running back could do for McNabb what Terrell Davis did for Elway. That's why I thought they should have tried to trade up for one of the top running back prospects last year when they had all of those draft picks.

I have to agree. Not to defend him but, other than the defense, his supporting cast has been far from good.

I would say Strength and Scrambling are his strongpoints. Frustrating to watch him shed off what would have been sure sacks.

Weakness is accuracy and the fact that when he is bad, he's REALLY bad. Above average QB but not considered very good or great..

I view him as above average, but I see him as a guy who'll never win the big game.

I think McNabb is a coddled average QB who will never grow up because he always has the Eagle FO to fall back on. In their eyes, and the eyes of their fans, nothing that McFatso does will be wrong. He know this, so he hides behind it and uses it for his advantage, thus, never having to at least try to elevate his game! He don't need to....he knows that just being average will get him by until Tuesday, his next paycheck.

That's how I view him...he won't grow, because he knows he really don't have to...in other words...he's a Company man...and he has it made!

McNabb is a great athlete and overall football player, but a very average QB. He doesn't have that leadership quality you look for in a QB, and in all honestly doesnt have that great of an arm. His footwork and running ability coupled with his superior upper body strength compared to oher QBs help make up for his dificiencies in the purely QB aspect of the game.

To me, "Elite" implies at least a top 5 player at their position. I don't see how McNabb is anywhere near that mark.

Before the sports hernia, he was the top rated passer in the league.

In 2004, he was the 4th rated passer behind Manning, Culpepper and Brees.

Yeah, he should be...when the game plan calls for the pass 85% of the time, what would you expect?

I'd expect you to understand what I'm saying. I'm not talking about yards or TDs. I'm talking about QB rating. That takes everything into consideration. Doesn't matter if you pass 20 times or 50 times. It is all compliled and averaged out. I'm just saying that just because the guy plays for the Eagles doesn't mean he isn't a good player. If the criteria is top 5, then he has done some things in the past few years to make that a point of debate.

When most of your passes are short routes to the RB and TE, shouldnt you be rated pretty high?

Forgive me, but, I'll take yards and TD's over any QB rating everyday, anyday...

He's fun to watch at moments, but I've never thought of him as "elite" - though perhaps in a play or two he is, in those moments. Besides he's a big crybaby, I'd seriously pass on him.

8.26 per attempt in 2004. That puts him at something like 4th best, per attempt, in the league. That's not so bad but having said that, the criteria for rating QBs is not mine. It is how the NFL ranks them and it is standardised. If your going to say he has to be top 5 and your using this system to rank the top 5, then it pretty much goes without saying that however the numbers are compiled, it's a fair rating.

Of course you would, those things support your position. Having said that, he was 8th over all in 2004 in passing yards, He was third in TDs and 2nd in fewest INTs only behind Drew Brees. What now?

I agree with a lot of this post. I do hate the fact that he is a bit of a cry baby.

Truth be told McNabb has killed us with TO and before TO. We have only beaten McNabb what 3 times. In no way is he overrated I'll take his playmaking skills anyday yeah he has lost big games but he's won some to anybody remember the 4th and I-95 play he made against the packers I hate the Eagles just as much as anybody on here but McNabb is an elite QB how many big games has Manning won the same amount as McNabb.

Another thing, those stats sound better then Aikman has had...who would you want?

McNabb is not a winner...he's a whiner...good athlete...good scrambler, what not, but, he is not an "elite" QB....

As far as the INTs go, yeah, when you dump if off to a back 8 yards away from you and that back gains another 15 or 20 so yards, that counts as passing yards, your not going to have alot of INTs...

Intangibles...my friend, intangibles...and McSoup does not have those...

Again, as a starting QB, he is average to above average. But, he has shown on different occasion that he simply locks up (his guts do) when the pressure is really on. He's a noodle and will never win a championship unless he is a backup.
