It's weird I want Melton he'd be a great add but I hope that wouldn't take us out of the mix for Donald if he's on the board. Really want him as well. Guys just a playmaker.

Oh hell to the no! You said that if Melton came here, with Jerry meddling, Garrett showing nothing, yada, yada, yada...

So, what makes you think that any other player could be a good fit if Jerry meddles, Garrett has nothing to offer, yada...

What would be the difference?

Bro, I said Melton is the type of player whose play depends on his surroundings. He's not a self-motivator. Sean Lee is a self motivator. He would succeed anywhere, even here. Melton is not built like that. At UT he underachieved until his senior year. In Chicago, it was a completely different culture and he flourished. Which culture do you think we resemble more, UT under Mack Brown or Lovie Smith's Bears?

Well, if you go by their own words in recent years then signing Melton would take Donald off our board in the 1st round. They want an immediate starter with that pick.

Donald's stock is rising and there is a good chance he does not make it to our selection. I know you do not like the player, but I have yet to see a player win every postseason defensive trophy there is, blow up the Senior Bowl and Combine and float around until the middle of the first round. By this point, it could be pretty clear in NFL circles that he is not the late first round/second round pick that some still believe he is.

I understand Melton has some off the field baggage, but we are desperate here. If we don't sign Melton, then we have to go into the draft targeting Donald. It is never good to go into a draft trying to target one specific guy, too much can go wrong.

We probably will have to overpay for Melton, but we really don't have much of a choice at this point, that is how bad our DL currently is.

I don't like him as much as others because he's not versatile. We're basically married to this scheme with Donald. I'd rather have Jernigan, who can give you flexibility.

But it wouldn't surprise me at all if Donald shined here as a rookie.

I am not convinced Jernigan is all that flexible to both techniques. If he was, he would be considered the hands down top DT, even with Donald shining. Jernigan's stock seems to be staying pat or in some eyes, moving down. I think he is a good enough player to be a starter, I just do not see a do-everything kind of player.

Did you know that sometimes, change is good?

I don't follow UT or the Bears...but, it seems that you think that just because a person did what he did in the past, that he can't change for a future?

The culture that I like is getting rid of that whole dline and bringing in someone that does not know anyone else. Start fresh as a new team.

When in Rome.

I think Jernigan could play the 1 or 3 here and could slide into the NT or DE role in a 3-4. He's much stronger at the point of attack than Donald. He's an elite run defender.

Do you think they'll have Ben Bass and Nick Hayden wine and dine him during the visit?

Maybe the question is not whether the Cowboys can afford to pay him, but can they afford NOT to...decisions, decisions, decisions. As long as they get either Melton or Donald, I can abide... I would prefer Donald but...

He's immature man. He just got arrested again. He hasn't changed. Who tears an ACL and then gets in a bar fight? I don't trust this guy.

http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/mockdraft?...d-mcshay-mock-draft&version=3&b=1395002894391

Everything I'm reading is Jernigan can also play the 3. From McShays mock

Timmy Jernigan
COLLEGE: Florida State
Class: Jr
HT: 6-1
WT: 299
POS: DT

Analysis: Donald is a great fit here if he drops, but Jernigan brings a lot of value as a 3-technique defensive tackle in this system as well. He is very strong and quick versus the run, and I love his motor and awareness -- he just isn't as fast or smooth as Donald. The Cowboys need help all along their defensive line and in their secondary, and Jernigan could come in and make an impact.

Right. It just means you then have less ammo to fill the DE hole. Whereas, if you fill the 3-tech in VFA, the value at DE in round one lets you trade down and net another 3rd rounder you can then use on the WR or OG backup you'd like to see.

Because Mcshay knows all. Sorry but I just don't see what marinelli describes as a tampa 2 rushman at the 3 tech in Jernigan. I'm not of fan of Jernigan as the 3 in this s heme but I will hold judgment until the draft to see what marinelli believes

I never said McShay knows all. But multiple draft previews have mentioned him as 3 if we lose out on Donald dropping. What I find strange is people have the Bears automatically taking Donald, whom I love, yet they want nothing to do with resigning Melton. Being here in Chicago and hearing chatter, there are concerns in recovery and personality. So we will see.

if you watch the video of the incident, the owner of the bar jumps over the bar and goes after Melton as 4 security guards are throwing him out. he was probably drunk and out of line but the owner had no business going after Melton when he has hired guys doing the job theyre paid for,

I get what you are saying completely. It's smart and a legit move. I'm just not sold on money to Melton.
