I'm just glad we got Ware.
jcollins28;2210228 said:Get over yourself, seriously you feel manipulated? Yeah because Merriman is the only football player to have ever used a steroid. It's not like they were used heavily in the 70's - 80's or anything. That said how do you feel manipulated? Did you shell out any of your own cash to go to a Chargers game? Did you buy a Merriman jersey? Did you attend any Maryland games?
Are you freakin' kidding me?Yeah because Merriman is the only football player to have ever used a steroid. It's not like they were used heavily in the 70's - 80's or anything. That said how do you feel manipulated?

How about this... HE CHEATED! Whether or not you think he cheated the fans, he did cheat his opponents. He cheated the NFL. He wanted to unfairly play on an unlevel playing field.
You don't see that as WRONG? I don't give a damn about how many other people have done it, or are doing it. I know that at one point, steroids were not illegal in the NFL. Merriman broke the rules.
I don't wish ill will on anybody, including Merriman. But like I said, if it was his CHEATING that brought on this injury, then he deserves NO sympathy whatsoever.
Tore your ligaments because of your 'roid use and now your career is over? Serves you right, Cheater.
Maybe you can at least teach your kids to learn from Daddy's mistakes... so they can develop the integrity Daddy never had.
All teams including Dallas have a trail to illegal drugs/steroids/HGH etc - don't get so judgemental.

I don't get the fascination. Merriman isn't a Cowboy now and never was before.
He plays outside the division and the NFC.
What IS the deal?
Does it really matter if he's a better or worst outside linebacker than DeMarcus Ware?
Nope. The only importance is how good Ware is for the Cowboys.
Is it really relevant that he wasn't drafted by the Cowboys?
Nope. We got Ware.
I don't get it.
J-DOG;2210561 said:All I know is that Merriman was pissed about Parcells telling him that the Cowboys were going to draft him if he was available...according to Merriman.
Throw in the fact that there were so-called character issues with Merriman before the draft and whispers about his workout numbers and using illegal substances....We drafted Ware instead.
So far Merriman has been suspended for illegal substance and Ware???
Not saying that Merriman deserves anything but I am sure glad we got Ware instead of Merriman.
Since Merriman has been suspended for illegal substance...his production has not been as good as before he was caught. Coincidence, I think not.
He is never gonna be as good as he was when he first came in the league.Nors;2210593 said:How old Is Merriman today?
To say his career is over and behind him is ludicre.

Since he was busted for illegal substance a great player has been just a good player.
I said his best football was behind him not saying his career is over. That's a big difference Noreaster.
Ware was drafted one slot above Merriman. It has had zero impact on his importance as a valuable, unreplaceable asset in the team's 3-4 defense.DaBoys4Life;2210544 said:because of where he and ware was drafted. How a lot of people wanted Merriman and and we took Ware instead. The merriman had that huge rookie season and what not then been on the decline since.
I'm looking at it by the eyeball test.Nors;2210617 said:He is just 24 and will perform for another decade. All these players to some extent toy with supplements - don't be so judgemental on those caught - 80% of these kids are pushing it to make NFL....

Merriman was a beast before he was busted...not so much anymore.
You are arguing about another topic all together.
Debating about how many guys are juicing up one way or another is not the topic.
Merriman got caught. And in doing so he gets no benefit of the doubt. Like it or not he is tagged with that label. And in my opinion he will never be as dominate as he was before he got caught.

Favorite players haven't been drafted by favorite teams forever. Merriman's non-selection by the Cowboys has had no effect on Ware in becoming one of the best outside linebackers in the NFL.
Merriman's success belongs to the Chargers. Ware's success belongs to the Cowboys.
Is this another case of "Just can't get a grip"? If so, Randy Moss may have to finally take a backseat to another broken dream people can't seem to get themselves beyond.
