Micah, can you just be a bit more humble?

Most coaches say that, Jimmy didn't coin it. He's been gone for close to 30 years and he's still being brought up on a consistent basis. He was great.....but, he's in the past.
so what lol. he didn't say he coined it, just that our most it was our most successful coaches attitude and he agrees with it.

Let him be him he is NOT HURTING you himself or ANYBODY
This is NOT TRUE. Do you think other people on the team won't have to answer for what he said?

Professional athletes have MASSIVE EGOS and are notorious for taking seemingly innocuous quotes into a rallying cry. This is why Belichick has the rule: "If you talk to the media, talk about you. NO ONE ELSE." That's what Micah should be talking about...what HE can control.

there are leaders of all kinds. many here used to complain ware was too quiet. they wanted more than someone who led by example only. they wanted someone to motivate players around them. there is no perfect person nor someone who will make everyone happy. i'm grateful we have a true difference maker from day one and will just enjoy that he's on our team.
I’m glad to have Parsons too. I just wish he’d comment less on others.

I think it’s interesting how there are many more replies to this thread than to the actual Micah Parsons podcast thread. I guess that’s just a sign of the times. Used to stop at the team, then it stopped with the press, then in recent years it stopped with the YouTubers/Bloggers. Now there is an entire industry built on commentating on the quick media which comments on the real media which comments on the real game.

I'm an atheist...so who are you telling? Obviously the "gods" are a metaphor for "stuff happens" and people especially notice your "stuff" when you open your mouth to wide - see your post.
You wrote "the gods don't like to be taunted." Stuff happens just means that anything can happen and at that point things in his favor are equally possible.

Belichik was talking about refraining about talking about your teammates. Parsons wasn't doing that. The players get to take issue with someone being spokesman for the defense and all indications are that they embrace him.

Well, he's got so many controversial topics that he covers - controversy sells- the bigger question is should he be breaking tradition and commenting DURING THE SEASON?

His 2nd year he agreed to be a regular guest on Undisputed until someone got in his ear. Ironically, his first appearance was after we lost to Tampa in the first game and his emotions are raw. Think that won't happen again?

I'm no longer religious, but I keep this bit of wisdom in mind:

"I have seen something else under the sun:

The race is not to the swift
or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise
or wealth to the brilliant
or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all."

There's no such thing as karma. So talk all you want, King Lion, because you back it up!
There is, it's just not controlled by a universal force. It's called "get back". Things will come back on you more often than not. Not "always"...but balance of probabilities, chimpanzees that abuse their power or talk to too much crap...end up being shunned or abused by their fellow chimps. Is Micah immune to this rule?

People in the past weren't humble/modest because it was the "right" thing to do, it's the SMART thing to do.

Absolutely verified. They announced it and everything. Then that Monday he was a no-show...and then he eventually cancelled. Fish was all over it.

Micah is young...and he doesn't understand how his words "can and will be used against you." Smart move to create his own platform, but NOT during the season. This will not end well.

One bit of wisdom I hold is that you do not let fear rule your decisions. If you are always afraid of the boogeyman or when the other shoe might drop, you are never going to accomplish anything.

At the end of the day, if they do fall flat on their face then all he needs to do is take accountability and no one will care. At the same time going into this fearful of bad things that might happen is rank cowardice IMO.

I see your point on that. I saw an SI article yesterday proclaiming: “Micah Parsons calls out Giants Coach!!” It was about the statement he made about how it was wrong to keep Daniel Jones in so long. (Which is correct). But I see your point that it may make him and/or the team waste too much energy and deal with distractions. The media vipers are waiting and ready to pounce for clicks. But I still don’t interpret it as cocky, arrogant.. just naive. All the kids nowadays do this. They have no boundaries on privacy, communication, etc. Different generation for sure.

That is not how probabilities work. Once an event happens, it's over and then the next event happens at the same probability. That is why you need a significant enough sample size to predict based on probability and you don't do it before hand.

The defense's first sample was historical. Let's see if it ends up being an outlier.

No, that is not what "stuff happens" means. It means it's ALL POSSIBILITIES are on the table...not just the one you want to be true due to "wish-thinking". Wish-thinking is NOT thinking at all.

How can you tell me what Belichick was talking about? The video content I'm referring to was former players - Edelman and others - remarking on how Bill chastises his team before, during and after the season by bringing up quotes that OTHER PLAYERS ON OTHER TEAMS MAKE IN THE MEDIA AND THEN BLASTING THEM.

What good would it do for Belichick to tell his team not to comment on his fellow players, but go ahead and blast the rest of the league? Where's the evidence that Bill supports that? He doesn't...the rule is plainly: TALK ABOUT YOURSELF; NO ONE ELSE.

I would paste the link but I doubt you'll watch the video. Google it or search Youtube. It ain't hard to find.

balance of probabilities.

Humans are wired to be social and remember grievances. Probabilities are possible outcomes ...and yes...each time you flip the coin it's still the "same" probability. But YOU'RE STILL MISSING THE POINT: In the case of things that can wrong with Micah's statement...there are like 3 worlds where Micah's words come true and 97 where he doesn't make the SB for a variety of reasons. No matter how many times you play the season back, the odds are against him.

Karma is a representation of this "balance of probabilities" when it comes to doing bad things and expecting good results. Over time, most likely, you will experience a setback...due to how humans are wired.

Stop while you are behind.

All possibilities includes favorable outcomes not just the negative ones you are wringing your hands over.

And what negative outcome do you see for Micah commenting about Jones being kept in too long? The Jets keep Wilson in after getting sacked 7 times too? Or heaven forbid the say things back?

If this upcoming sample is independent then you have no point. You just don't seem to cope with uncertainty as as well as Micah does it all I see.

But it's not independent!!! C'mon...sounds like you do have education, but you don't have EXPERIENCE. Apply your education to the real world...that's the point of it.
