The smaller the dog, the longer the lifespan, as a rule. Over breeding can ruin that, but small dogs usually live 15 years or so, as opposed the a big breed, such as a Great Dane, you're lucky if they live 6 years.I know this sounds crazy, but the reason I haven't bought a dog is because their lifespan is relatively short and I'm worried about the pain of losing it. I've seen friends and co-workers lose it over their pets. My boss was inconsolable once. I really want a toy poodle or a shih tzu. Maybe I'll go for it.
