Micah is a great player, but what exactly is he great at? What does he need to work on to be elite?

Parsons is best going full tilt. D scheme needs to fill the gaps and stay in their containment lanes to keep the opponent's OC from designing plays away from him. We need a true LB to be the gatekeeper.

This thread is insane. No matter how you want to slice it, Micah is an ultra-elite pass rusher. Sacks, QB hits, pressures, pass rush win rate, double team rate, chip rate... he's literally at the top of every category. Offenses dedicate extra resources to stopping him on 50% of their passing snaps, and Micah beats those extra blockers anyway. He's a 3x All-Pro, and would have made it 4 if he didn't miss four games this season.

What's he great at? Getting to QBs, period. He's like Hall of Fame great at it.
He reminds me of Randy White, who elevated his game as soon as he was moved from LB to DLine.
Why would the Cowboys water down Parson's effect by making him a LBer unless they plan on some kind of flex D.

At maximum give this guy a 5 year contract, when he loses half a step his game is diminished greatly. Do not move a players money back that requires a great first step back, I don't see the power when he caught, it's not horrible, but by far not elite, his best move is just elite quickness.

people used to say the same thing about Ware, not making plays “when it counts”.

Then ware leaves and wins a superbowl with another team. Ware was all over Brady in that AFC championship game the Broncos won.
Ware went to a team that didn't have to have him as the sole pass rusher.

Denver was overall a much better defensive team than Ware was ever on with Dallas. He didn't have to do it all, ever hear of a guy named Von Miller? 11 sacks that year. Heck, even the Broncos' nose tackle got 2.5 sacks. Ware could sit back and bid his time and get sacks when Miller was pressuring the quarterback.

Glad for Ware, but as far as his time in Dallas was concerned, I stand by my comment....

Doesn’t matter. The point was that Ware was playing well on the biggest stage games possible.

There wasn’t some mental block preventing him from doing well in playoff games. He just needed the opportunity and a team around him to help.

49 sacks in four years and he still has three games left this year. He will surpass 50 . It’s players like Lamb Parsons Tyler Smith Bland when fully healthy that give you hope . Building blocks .

And the OL is starting to look like a young mauling version that was around when Dak & Elliott broke in 2016 to move the ball pass protect . A good solid draft and a well placed FA or 2 next year and Dallas at least is NFCE contending hopefully more and Parsons no doubt is the face of the revival .

He's a speed rusher, gives OT's fits, makes you want to know where he is all the time. Those great things I mentioned are they things he continues to excel at, or are we giving him a pass from years past? I mentioned you must know here he's at at all times, but he mainly lines up at the same place all the time. Back in the day, guys excelled coming from the same place, now days it seems that guys are given more leeway to move around to find the best matchup. I'm sure they did the same at times back in the day. With that said, what would make Micah elite, does he make enough elite plays for you? I don't care about the money he's going to get, i'm focusing on his play, and the title that many give him.

I for one am proud of what he's done in the past, I just feel that he could give us more. It was mentioned that Zimmer wants him to move around more, but during the game they said he likes to rush from that one side. Coming from the same side every play makes it easy for teams to know where you are. At that point that's when you see the huffing and puffing from taking a beating because you're easily located. Not trying to bash Micah at all, I just want a little bit more out of our top defender, if he's actually that anymore?? Please give your thoughts
You contradicted yourself so bad here lmao. Idk great at pass rush...for starters

He’s already elite, and he’s the best player on the entire team. When he gets a pressure or a sack, he’s overcome a double team. That same double team offers opportunities for other players, something that is overlooked by many fans. Not having a book end like DLaw on the field this year has hurt him statistically, but that’s always the case for any player when he’s the only real threat on the edge. I can’t say he doesn’t need to improve because he would say he needs to improve. Meanwhile, thank the football gods that he’s on our team. He just needs to avoid the crazy injury curse we’re experiencing.

he has skills, but he is selfish and he is not a leader. he has too many outside interests and his goal is to get to the next contract. he disappears in big games and he only shows up against weaker opponents and he has quit on the team already this year.

trade his arse. get as many picks as possible. look at Detroit. they traded their biggest asset and now rebuilt and look like the top contender in NFC.

however, Jerry won't do it. no way. no how. Parsons was tops in the league in jersey sales in 2023

btw, Dak prescot was 5th!!!!! so that explains the 60M contract to jerry.

to jerry those will be and are investments that will pay for themselves..... if neither wasn't in the top 20, neither would get a new large contract.
Your first two sentences are how all these kids are. Better get used to it because they aren't changing.

there are those that are that way. certainly more of them these days. Social media has made everyone an important person and given mega phone to all the idiots (whole other subject).
but there are those that are fully dedicated to their craft. Parsons is just not one of them.

Those that seem like the old school guys of old are the exception and not the norm.

It's a fit thing more than a skill thing.

Parsons is an ideal OLB in a LeBeau 3-4 where his duties would be rushing only 60-70ish percent of the time on passing downs.
