Last I checked, both were in the Big 12. Oh, also, both are on the Big 12 First team WR, both are AFCA All-Americans, and both are Biletnikoff finalists.

Hmm...kind of like Crabtree was quiet as a mouse at OU (62 yards 0 Tds)?

Really though both are great receivers. Crabtree will be a junior first round pick in this year's draft, and Bryant will be a junior first round pick in next year's draft. Dallas would be blessed to have either one and no one knows who will be the best NFL player yet, so these comparisons are asinine in IMO.

Whats asinine is putting one player's one great year above another players two great years. Thats whats asinine. And last time I checked I never said Dez Bryant wasn't in the Big 12 where did that come from?

Crabtree is more of a complete player, and thats what sets him apart in my eyes.

I think he got a good start there for me ;)

But on a serious note I guess you didn't catch my sarcasm. I was being sarcastic because I doubt the legitimacy of your claim of seeing somehwere scouts say they prefer Bryant.

Here is the deal none of those articles are even ligit one of them did not even come from this year!!! On top of that that None of them really mention Dez Bryant. I dont expect you to believe me however I did read those articles and thats all that needs to be proven to me. Which is why I said that your statement was not relivant especially a guy with Texas Tech goggles. However, whats the point you have Texas Tech logo (assuming you are a Tech fan) so you are always going to be for Crabtree and for my self I am an Oklahoma State fan so I cant say much my self.

Well I go to Tech, I know Crabtree, refute the statements of him being a prima donna, and watched him in person 6 times this year manhandle corners and play all out all the time.

There are no plays off for him, he has incredibly soft hands, and he loves to block. These are all reasons I feel he is better than Bryant.

And also, you mentioned that Crabtree had an off game against Oklahoma. If 62 yards can be considered that really.

Are you really trying to compare Oklahoma's defense to Texas Tech? Tech's defense is pee wee level, don't give me that.

Well it looks as if Dez haves the exact same attributes and yes I have as well seen Dez Bryant in 6 games in person so that does not mean much. I dont think I ever mentioned about Crabtree having an off night against Oklahoma. I also never compared defenses. Maybe you are refering to another post?

Crabtree is by far the best WR in the country.

It isn't even close. He has practiced with NFL players and knows what it takes at the next level. He has accomplished a great deal this year but he was banged up basically the entire way.

If he comes back it is re-write the WR record books and to play a healthy season. I still say it will be along, long shot for him to come back. His dad very much wants him to go pro.

Unless he isn't running fast 40's he'd be crazy to stay another year but for some like Eli Manning it worked out more than just fine.

Does this kid really want to go St. Louis or Cincy???

Bryant is no where near the pro prospect Crabtree is because of the difference in athleticism but Bryant is in fact a very good player. Crabtree just happens to be bigger and faster. Crabtree was a first round pick running a 4.5 40 but he lowered that over the off-season and is in the mid 4.4's now on a slightly slower than Combine track.

Bryant is probably a late first right now which is nothing to sneeze at but Crabtree is a top 5 pick according to most scouts.

Again this guy had 1922 yards receiving last year with 22 touchdowns.
He is once again an All-American but has been banged up all year and almost never plays more than 60% of the offensive snaps in a game. So his number looks comparable to other top guys but in reality it is a very down year for him which is why he is talking about coming back.

Crabtree is a great wideout, but those #s are inflated due to Tech's system, the same one that made Danny Amendola, a 600-700 yard a season receiver on most college pro-style offenses, look like an All-Star with 1,100 yards last year

Call it what you want but there have been hundreds of WRs play in college offense much like this. Amendola had the season he did because he knows how to sit down in zones, has great hands and teams had to worry more about Crabtree.

Think about that for a second. Amendola who sits on our NFL PS had 800 yards less receiving then Crabtree did as a freshman in the same system....

Crabtree would have phenomenal numbers anywhere or else the coach is an idiot. A lot of the plays Tech calls for him it doesn't for anyone else. They are pro style routes with double moves to get him deep.

What colleges actually run a pro style offense anymore? If they want to recruit WRs and QBs they better stop soon.

Your right I thought it was you that said that I do apologize it was the poster Monkey who said that.

But I still firmly believe that Crabtree is the much better WR, and the attributes are NOT the same thats the point im trying to make. He is much more of a complete WR than Bryant..

He red shirted as a Freshman. So this is his 3rd year of College. He might be able to graduate.

Also, some people are just plain smart. Take Josh Pastner who played basketball here at Arizona. He got his Bachelor's degree in 2.5 years and in another 1.5 years he got his Masters.

He was smart and had no chance at the NBA, their plenty of college students who get Masters in 4-5 years but none in the NBA, NFL or MLB.......

BTW, Crabtree will enter the NFL draft this coming draft, with Harrell leaving he would be a fool to not take the money and run to be a top 10 possibly top 5 pick...........

Potts will be a solid QB. He was a top recruit coming out of Abiline, we actually played against him. He has a cannon for an arm, a lot stronger than Harrell's.

But your right, the odds of him coming back are very slim. What would have been selfish and dumb would have been for him to actually say he was leaving. At least it shows he does care about this team this year.

A rifle for an arm, but not accurate at all!!

Crabtree would be foolish not to enter the draft. His stock really can't get higher, just take the money while you can get it. His signing bonus alone will ensure that he and his family are set for life as long as he handles his money responsibly. I can respect a player for wanting to finish college and get their degree but he shouldn't risk injuring himself if he doesn't have to.

Enjoy every minute of it. Do you go to SU? I grew up in upstate NY myself.
I'm enjoying as much as I can with finals just around the corner :laugh2: But I go to Ithaca. Newhouse turned me down, but I'm glad to be at the smaller school, so I guess it was a blessing.

He will indeed be a junior next year, but you are forgetting he redshirted his freshman year, so logically, next year would be his fourth year on campus...

But I still think that the risk of getting hurt or stock falling is just way more than the benefit of staying in school. His draft stock probably isn't going to go much higher.

The person I think of...sorry for another Cuse reference...is Hakim Warrick. The guy probably would have been a top 5 or 10 pick had he left after his junior year, but he stuck around, and fell all the way to like 19.

Yes, I would definitely call that an off game. I am a huge OU fan and I was THRILLED to hold him to 62 yards and no TD's. Absolutely thrilled!

With that said, he is an amazing talent. People will say his numbers are inflated because of the system (and they are somewhat), but he is just an awesome WR.

I meant for most WRs that wouldn't be considered a bad bad game.

The player who stayed and shot himself in the foot that I think of is Ken Swilling. He was a no doubt top 10 pick as a Junior Safety out of Georgia Tech. He was compared to Ronnie Lott. He stayed, got hurt, and was never the same. He ended up being drafted in the 7th round in 1992. He never even played.
