Michael Irvin: Jaylon Smith is next 'Luke Kuechly'

He's got a rare skill set because I also think he could be a terror as an edge rusher. I believe he would thrive in a Von Miller type role.

There's like no chance God allows us to have this freak. There are folks in hospice with better odds.

:lmao:

Yes. The doctor that operated on him who also happens to be employed by the Dallas Cowboys is sure.

The doctor working for the Cowboys is a non-factor to me. The doctor must be very optimistic or Dallas wouldn't have drafted him. There is no scientific test available that can determine about nerve damage and nerve healing. There are test that can detect the damage , but there is absolutely no way of knowing if the nerve will heal and be the same as it was before. I hope he has a 100% recovery, but it is not written in stone. Smith may have lifelong complications from the nerve damage. I know some posters are going to say that it was not damaged, but stretched. Stretching the nerve does damage it. If the nerve wasn't damaged, he would be ready to play now because the knee itself is healed. I have nerve damage in several nerves myself due to injury and the surgery. Smith may have lifelong numbness, burning, tingling, etc. In my case the different sensations come and go. Other people are different. In some cases it my be permanent. He may have minimal problems that allows him to play, but limits his ability. In other words, he may never play at his pre-injury level. It looks encouraging for Smith right now, but him returning to 100% is far from certain.ball we can do is hope for the best.

It was indeed stretched and he will recover. I'm certain of it because I have faith in the rest of the glass filling up.

I missed this list when I was glancing over it and only discovered it when another poster replied. I had to go back and give it the "like" that it deserves.

The athletic dominance is rivaled only by Demarcus Ware in recent memory defensively. I agree that his presence is such a game changer if he can return to the field.

Yep. Ware and Smith. Probably the two most talented defensive players ever drafted by the Cowboys.

Michael Irvin was pumped when he called out Jaylon Smith's name at the 2016 NFL Draft last Friday night.

I was thinking that same thing. Jack is an athlete. Lb rb and some wanted at safety. Smith is the prototypical lb. a big thing on a lot of super bowl winning teams.

It was the same thing that I and others were saying about Jack for months.

If he plays again, he is capable of being that good. I just wish I could believe in spontaneous nerve regeneration.

I bet Marinelli envisions J.Smith (54) as the next Brian Urlacher (54) in his scheme.

That would be great.

Or, the next Chuck Howley (54) in Cowboys lore. For those too young to know, Howley might just be the greatest LB not in Canton. 6x Pro Bowl, 5x 1st team All Pro, 1x 2nd team All Pro, SB5 MVP. If Jaylon can accomplish what Howley did he would be a steal at 34.

Michael Irvin must be hitting the cocaine again. Jaylon is a perma gimp.

Just on that info, Howley should be in the HOF. I have lost all respect for the HOF process due to the politics and bias. It is an embarrassment to the league. The current Pro Bowl is a joke as well.
