Michael Irvin: Jaylon Smith is next 'Luke Kuechly'

I bet Marinelli envisions J.Smith (54) as the next Brian Urlacher (54) in his scheme.

Urlacher is actually a much better comp imo, just because I think Smith brings more value as a pass rusher than in pass coverage. Not as physical as Urlacher, but closer to his game imo than Kuechly.

The only thing for sure is Death & Taxes. However I think Smith will be okay as we have to go with Doctor's prognosis and he says he will be fine with time.

Death, taxes, and cable rates always increasing.

Urlacher was about 20 lbs heavier. It is difficult to find proficient 4-3 LB pass rushers. Seattle has some but he isn't like Bruce Irvin.

He had to bring race into it?

Seriously, why?

Disappointing. I dont care what color Kuechly, Lewis or Smiths skin is or what that has to do with anything, and I wonder why he felt the need to say that.

I dont know how he gets away with that in todays world actually.

Are we sure he will play? No, nothing is certain especially in sports. But Highly likely?! Yes...

Like it has been said before, if he plays this year and is as good as we think he can be... Mara will sue us for collusion.

Before the injury this kid was a top 10 pick...

This means we got two top 10 talents in a single draft with no pick given up to move up/around...

Last year Woody announced Gregory as good pick. Hope Irvin's prediction is more closer to right.
Good lord the kid has played 1 year... Everyone assumes you just plug and play... Normally it takes YEARS for a pick to pan out.. Sadly we live in a NOW world and people don't get the chance to develop.

Not to mention he showed flashes of excellence. Its not about doing that consistently. And with the team getting the crap kicked out of them last year im not sure that is a great benchmark for a year 1 player.

All I've got to say is that bowl move he does after he makes a play needs to stop. That looks lame as hell.

On the Cowboys passing up Myles Jack to draft Smith: "I read everything, so I read, 'Why not Myles Jack?' Myles Jack was a running back playing linebacker. This dude, he was born to play linebacker.

Preach, Playmaker.

He's making a joke. If you follow what he's saying, their race isn't the point he's making.

He's 20 years old though at that size.. He'll get bigger.

Also, he'll probably get on those special vitamins that so many NFL players are on.

Saw that for the Rookie Weekend he will not be working out, Duh ! But would think the Cowboys would want him rehabbing in Dallas and at the facility. He is listed at 245 lbs on the Cowboy website !
This is going to be the player I follow most closely for the next couple years ...

He's got a rare skill set because I also think he could be a terror as an edge rusher. I believe he would thrive in a Von Miller type role.

There's like no chance God allows us to have this freak. There are folks in hospice with better odds.

Read the post in this thread and tell me we don't have some people stuck on negative.

OP post a positive article where cowboys great Mike Irvin is excited about our 2nd round pick and a bunch of depressed negative dudes chime in with some crap about if the guy will even play or not.

Its just amazing how some people cant let themselves be happy.

Its like if we just won a game and are sitting at 4-0 and people want to complain that we gave up 3 sacks. Just enjoy the ride.

aser5

thank you
