Michael Vick "revolutionized" NFL football; do we have past Cowboys who did the same?

I agree with Landry. don't you think it be ironic that Landry, who was such an early innovator, ended his coaching days with the widespread thought that coaching had passed him by? So Ironic it is like that no smoking sign on your cigarette break. Isn't it ironic?
(But, Mister, whatever you taking you should share. Where in the world did Dave Campo come from? On my list he would be No. 2 billionth in the world as to bringing innovation to the NFL.)

You need to get a bottle of cheep bourbon like jerry and losen up, you are missing great sarcasim unless you think the keeper of the time clock belongs in my beloved Canton. If you sniff glue then we all still loves you anyways.

Given how many players we've had that the NFL has made rules against because they were so effective...

This is true!

Roy Williams may have been the biggest revolutionary of them all... (I kid)

Horse collar penalty exists because of him

Cowboys:
Hayes: (as noted by OP) who brought raw speed and a deep game that really didn't exist before.
Landry: (as noted by OP) This is guy is Mr. Football and a top 5 all time coach. He brought innovation on Offense, Defense and in the way the organization ran. I think he is #2 right behind Paul Brown as an innovator / coach.
J. Johnson: Brought a new defense to the NFL that completely changed how teams play defense, the speed based Miami 4-3.
Dave Campo: Under rated innovator who brought Seaworld and time clocks to the NFL. :)
D. Woodson: Was a prototype of the new age NFL safety. He could hit, lead and cover anything. He is the blue print for the current safety model. His peers were either big hitters or cover guys.

Thats really all I can come up with other than the Erik Williams & Irvin needing new rules to slow them down which I don't think is what the OP is asking. Lots of talent on the Dallas Teams over the years but the innovators were really Landry and Johnson, not so much the players themselves.

You forgot the special teams draft! It hasn't caught on league wide, but there's still a chance.....

Mike Vick didn't revolutionize anything.
There's plenty of QBs before him that had his type of game or better.

I think the most revolutionary figure in Cowboy history was not a player, but Coach Landry.

I agree. He is not much of a QB, yes he can run and? The reason he looks to run 1st is because he is not a very good QB and can't process the information to make the read and deliver the ball.

He did revolutionize the game. No question about it. Pure speed and elusiveness from a QB. I don't think we will ever see that again from a QB.

Then again.. he couldn't stay healthy, so what good does that do?

To this day he STILL takes the hit instead of running out of bounds.

I don't think he revolutionized the game or QB position. He was playing wrong position. Should have been WR/kr/pr.

Bob Hayes did far more revolutionizing than Mike Vick could ever dream of.

So did Gil Brandt, Tex Schramm and Tom Landry.

YR

Thanks, was just going to mention Landry, Schramm & Brandt, as well as Hayes.

I'll add Thomas Hollywood Henderson, and maybe it's a stretch, he was the LT before LT revolutionize LB's. He just didn't last in the league as long.

But the art of sarcasm takes nuance. The response contained, maybe, sarcasm but unless you REALLY look for it, it comes off as just Cowboys Weekly analysis. So, give it a little umphff! Give it a little more nuance and then you can say it be sarcasm and not just dry observations.

Dats right!

Emmitt Smith (taking off yer helmet on the field) Roy "Horse collar" Williams.
The first was great, the second not-so-great.

My Cowboy candidate has got to be Bullett Bob Hayes who was brought in as a sprinter and became a wide receiver and changed the game forever.

Read about mr. revolution below

And my comment to him is that yeah, he did revolutionize the NFL by being a criminal/felon/inmate and halfing a crazy no-talent brother who revolutionized tweeting with sour grapes messages.

Other cowboys besides Hayes who come to mind is the Landry/Brandt/Schram troika who began using computers to recognized talent. That truly revolutionized NFL football.

What half you got, mens and womans?
