Michael Wilbon: I hate the Cowboys!!!...Vid/audio added Post #25

He is actually a Bears fan.

Oh really??? I always heard him prop the skins in the past. Perhaps it's just because he lives in that area.

He's very close to McNabb. Kornheiser frequently mocks Wilbon by referring to McNabb as "your boy."

I could care less what he likes or doesn't like. He and Tony cater to the Skins and have to please their fan base and at the same time try to cause some friction in order to gain ratings.

Wilbon's a Bears homer and he openly admits it. I'm cool with that.

Wilbon's also very respected in the Washington area. I've met him before - total class act. He makes picking up the Washington Post for the Sports section enjoyable with his columns.

I used to work at The Washington Post and have had the opportunity to interact with Wilbon on a few occassions. PTI is an act or rather an amplification (an ESPNification?) of his relationship with Tony Kornheiser. He's very down to earth and friendly. He'll talk sports with any and everybody at any moment. He knows his stuff too.

Now Kornheiser is a complete a@&. He thinks world revolves around him and is rarely willing to engage people. I've shared elevators with him and he wouldn't even say hello to people.

Would ya look at that? :p:

Edit: Oops. The video is an Insider access. Though it was regular ESPN Vid. The vid is the NFCE segment.

Audio: http://podloc.andohs.net/dloadTrack.mp3?prm=1644xhttp://a.espnradio.com/podcenter/pti/pti091102.mp3

The audio is the entire show. I think the NFCE segment starts at the 4:00 min mark.

Thanks, WG. It turns out he said "I hate the Cowboys" once. Could've sworn he said it twice. Anyway, it's just unprofessional IMO. I couldn't care less who Wilbon roots for. I just believe objectivity is in order when so-called professionals discuss the game.

I wish all football talking heads would admit what their biases were.

Me too. Doesn't bother me in the least. He's an admitted Bears fan.....so cut him some slack. Most true fans of other teams have always been jealous of the boys and all of the love they get around the country.

Snuggle the hate?

Yeah he was born in Chicago and always props them up. He does it to the Skins though too...

He loves all the Chicago teams, Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls. He's thrown the first pitch in Cubs games a few times IIRC.

Wilbon has never hidden his hate for the Cowboys, it especially gelled with his hate for TO.

However, a lot of what they say on that show is just for the drama. Cornheiser always teases Wilbon about the Cowboys because Cornheiser loves the Cowboys and Wilbon dislikes them.

Kornheiser is the man. A Long Islander and he loves the Cowboys. Doesn't get much better than that. :)

Wow that's a bad career move, speaking as a professional media consultant... You never let your bias be known to the public because no one will believe you from then on when talking about the subject at hand.

That is a nice combination.:)
I remember back in 2007 when we went up to soldier field and beat up on his Bears, he was not happy on that PTI show, the next day.

it's not a bad career move, because outside of some diehards and a few loyal readers, noone will remember that Wilbon said this
