Mickey: make no bones about run intentions

Thank you!Fans don't get it just like Jerry doesn't.
Did you see what Barkley did with the Giants' OL? Top RB FA costs 15M, Top OL FA 35M..Where's the value???? The trouble with idiot Cowboys fans is that they want to win next year. You have to build a foundation first and that starts with the trenches. Build for 2027...

Good article from Mickey. Straight forward about the run game and plans.
And reasons why Schotty selected the coaches he did to help the run game
No company fluff stuff this time.

"Because as former Cowboys quarterbacks, offensive coordinator and head coach Jason Garrett reminded me a few weeks ago while giving his thoughts on the career of Zack Martin, running the football "is certainly how (Brian's) dad built teams for years. They used to call him Marty Ball. It was almost to a fault. They were going to run the ball, play defense, special teams, and the issue was they would have good teams. They'd get to the playoffs, and they couldn't go to that next step because maybe they weren't balanced enough the other way. But he won a lot of games playing that way."
Sounds great, but we have made no player moves yet, that have improved our run game on offense or defense.

Jeanty doesn't need a great line in front of him. That's the beauty of him. But he's the only RB I'd draft in rd 1 because of that. To me, the drop off from him to the next group is significant. He's generational on film. The question might be the competition level he faced. That part scares me a bit. We need to draft 2 backs. One bruiser like Mafah or Mullings, then a take it to the house guy. In the meantime, we must solidify the Oline or it won't matter much.

That 4th rounder for Mingo is really going to hurt. Would love to see the team get two running backs in the draft. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Right, just all about the same. Maybe slightly down, or on paper, slightly up. If you consider the new coaching staff potential.

I wouldn't be mad at that at all, so then what do you do with myles and williams
One of them can make the team. They are depth insurance. You need 5 on the team in camp and a lot of times one will get hurt in camp.

Lol I feel your frustration man. I wouldn't care if fans thought this way but Jerry didn't. Problem is Jerry probably wants to build from the outside in as well

That's why they will draft a top back and they very well could draft 2 backs.
Cowboys would need to trade down in the 1st round (possibly twice) to garner enough Day 2 draft picks to afford to draft 2 RBs. With the current number of draft picks, they don't have enough to do this drafting of 2 RBs.

LOL..If they want to run the ball, they had better draft two offensive linemen in the first two rounds and then get an RB in the third. The current OL is trash..
The only way I go that route is if Micah is traded for a first and more earlier picks like another 2nd and 3rd etc. No way i do two OL and a RB in the 3rd with what we got now.

I'd do a RB in the 1st and OL in the next two rds but not the other way around.

I personally believe a run on RBs will go in the 2nd and 3rd and we will lose value if we went the way you suggested

Even when the line was at its peak with younger versions of Tyron, Zack and FredBeard the opponent would stack the box and challenge SleepNumber to beat them.

And now, absolutely nothing will change from a defensive coordinator's perspective.

So now, can he all of a sudden do it?

That is my prediction, RB, QB, and WR in first 3 rounds.
It depends on what happens , who is taken early etc, so I cant say what round.
I liked hampton, I read cowboys do too, also ewers and golden, but they may or may not have
a shot to get them.
I think they may trade back a few spots too.
If they draft a QB it will be in the 5th or later.

I don’t think you can go wrong with the philosophy but they have done nothing to actually rectify the issues that existed last year with the running game as of now. Relying on the draft alone to transform your identity is ambitious. Not to mention there are now more holes in the WR room so even if you want to run more you still need the threat of something on the outside minus CeeDee

All sounds great until it’s 2nd and 9, then 3rd and 6, and then you’re down by two scores.

Suddenly it’s a little less of a viable plan.
And that's exactly what will happen. In today's game you need to throw the ball to be able to run it.
