Mike McCarthy called Trey Lance "a beautiful mind" for the way he has retained information

I’m not sure Dak needs to be pushed. He seems very dedicated. I have a hunch he’s giving us the best Dakota Prescott he can.
You believe Dak has reached his ceiling, which is very probable.

If this kid has to step in for some reason to play and plays well, all the people criticizing Jerry for not asking Dak if he’s allowed to add solid depth to the QB position before hand will disappear. Suddenly that same crowd will come and say “I always supported this decision…” yadda yadda

Lance hasn’t been nearly as bad as people make him out to be either.

If he had to play for us we’d be fine.

McCarthy wasn’t even informed of the trade until after it happened. He’s just saying all the right things to make it sound like he was on board.
disingenuous, intellectually dishonest even... to make that claim.

"McCarthy told reporters that he had been part of the evaluation, but he was left out of the business end of the matter.

“’I really don’t care if you involve your quarterback in it or not,” Schlereth continued. “But to not involve your head coach. What does it say about your head coach? ‘Hey guys, I know he’s your head coach, but he truly has no authority within this organization. So, you don’t have to listen to him. You don’t have to pay attention because the buck stops with me. Your coach doesn’t have the authority to fire you. I do.’"

So MM was involved somehow....but we'll sit and pick nits about HOW MUCH he was involved?

McCarthy may have given his evaluation of Trey Lance, but Jerry never asked him if he would be on board with the Cowboys making the trade for him. Jerry said he never told anyone he was making the trade until after they made it. This is what’s created the stir.

 Hum, from what I read on here Fat Mike has never heard of Trey. He's never discussed him in the draft or reviewed him. He basically knows nothing of him.

:huh:but if he had, Jerry would know what Mike thinks of him.

:huh:agenda

So? He's the GM. That's his job and it's been his MO for...ever.

McCarthy was asked to evaluate him. That's his job in the personnel acquisition process. Which he did.

The outrage over this is ridiculous.
Jerry’s MO as a GM has been heavily criticized over the years. He always finds ways to undermine his head coaches. I’ve never heard of an HC not being told by the owner that they were making a trade for a QB. Head coaches are usually in the loop when a trade for a player is going to be made. Jerry adds players to the team whether his HC wants the player or not. Bill Parcells didn’t want TO but he had no say in the matter. He said Jerry wanted him and that he’s the owner.

Everyone knew Lance was being shopped. We discussed it here. Jerry very easily could have gotten McCarthy‘s opinion in the event San Francisco called or the Cowboys decided to make a call. Jerry was making this trade whether McCarthy liked it or not.
According to McCarthy Jerry did get is opinion on Lance. Jerry didn't tell him he was making the trade but, if he asked his opiionion he must have known the trade was possible.

Why does this matter to you so much. It is at least the second time you posted this with on 5 posts.
It means nothing.

if we had a scouting department they might have discussed Trey. Too bad Will and the other flunkies are just picking up a paycheck and not scouting the guys in the draft.

This has been debunked by McCarthy himself.

The Zone’s opinion posts from random members are *not* an actual source.

We need to be careful to not just repeat nonsense we see on the board.
Exactly. Way too often something gets posted and fans run with it. 99% of the time it is negative as well.
People are too lazy to check out the facts for themselves. Nor will they believe it when it has been debunked.

He asked his opinion of Lance but hardly anyone thought the Cowboys were going to trade for him. I’m sure even McCarthy thought a trade was highly unlikely.

The new toy has arrived.

Dak is old news. Lance is the captain now.
So are you even more hyped up for Dak to fail so bad this season. So you can start on a Lance for QB.
I have not seen you comment on this too much lately. But then again I been super busy the last month, so may have missed it.

What are your thoughts on Lance? Can you give us an analysis.

For me I love this trade. Now what will Jerry and Stephen do. Not this season, but going into next season. There will be many of interesting discussions and arguements from it, as it has already started.

I really would like to see him play at some point this season, but not due to injury.
