Seldom is there not a "troubled" prima donna WR at the core of these discussions and everything gets blown up because they don't have a lot to discuss because the over riding fact is that all sports shows are too long. They have to be redundant and ridiculous and that was never more showcased than the Ray Rice incident when players got to get into the high pulpit. "Don't beat your woman". Thank you, thank you very much.
Did they happen to talk about Dez's Aragorn impersonation as he moved stealthily among his men inspiring them in SF? Damn, that was funny. I noticed last season the media made a huge deal out of his blow up in the locker room but conveniently missing was the instigator of that, one of their own.
I look at this rather simply. These guys are there for one reason, to talk about football on the field based on their experiences and insight and I do enjoy the observations regarding that but that's where it ends. I could care less about their opinions of what is pc and anything not directly related to the GAME of football.
These guys are football players; they're not role models. They are paid to play football and follow the rules and the NFL doesn't cover sideline behavior or temper tantrums as part of the CBA.
The root of this problem is simple and one I've lobbied for since I first saw one. Kickers. If that practice net, which is useless btw because it's missing one little detail....goal posts, is not there, no story. Hell, I can kick it pretty easily, 80%, into the net from 2 feet. 4 feet, 50/50. How many times have you seen the PK successfully hit the net only to miss the kick? Do we need this position? No, go for it with a real football play on 4th down, they will increase the scoring that the owners want.
Bottom line is this is the price they pay for the close ups and posing on the sideline and don't think they are not aware. That additional exposure removes the helmet and humanizes and allows for more endorsements.
Beckham's problem is he arrived on the scene as a god and has to accept that he's only human. The fact that his QB called him out as the originator of his problems should not be lost on the young man. Time to grow up and stop feeding the media because they're never sated........never.
