Seldom is there not a "troubled" prima donna WR at the core of these discussions and everything gets blown up because they don't have a lot to discuss because the over riding fact is that all sports shows are too long. They have to be redundant and ridiculous and that was never more showcased than the Ray Rice incident when players got to get into the high pulpit. "Don't beat your woman". Thank you, thank you very much.

Did they happen to talk about Dez's Aragorn impersonation as he moved stealthily among his men inspiring them in SF? Damn, that was funny. I noticed last season the media made a huge deal out of his blow up in the locker room but conveniently missing was the instigator of that, one of their own.

I look at this rather simply. These guys are there for one reason, to talk about football on the field based on their experiences and insight and I do enjoy the observations regarding that but that's where it ends. I could care less about their opinions of what is pc and anything not directly related to the GAME of football.

These guys are football players; they're not role models. They are paid to play football and follow the rules and the NFL doesn't cover sideline behavior or temper tantrums as part of the CBA.

The root of this problem is simple and one I've lobbied for since I first saw one. Kickers. If that practice net, which is useless btw because it's missing one little detail....goal posts, is not there, no story. Hell, I can kick it pretty easily, 80%, into the net from 2 feet. 4 feet, 50/50. How many times have you seen the PK successfully hit the net only to miss the kick? Do we need this position? No, go for it with a real football play on 4th down, they will increase the scoring that the owners want.

Bottom line is this is the price they pay for the close ups and posing on the sideline and don't think they are not aware. That additional exposure removes the helmet and humanizes and allows for more endorsements.

Beckham's problem is he arrived on the scene as a god and has to accept that he's only human. The fact that his QB called him out as the originator of his problems should not be lost on the young man. Time to grow up and stop feeding the media because they're never sated........never.

So yesterday I had espn on in the background when nfl live came on. They had a huge roundtable about Beckham Jr.'s actions. It was hilarious. It was like an SNL skit. Its espn sinking to a new low.

Nothing Beckham did deserved a big rountable like that and its absurd how espn creates this stuff out of basically nothing. Usually they save that type of thing for something Dallas related. At one point Herm Edwards said when he was young he had his grahm crackers and milk taken away and its time to take away ODB's crackers and milk!!! He was serious. SNL should thank them for this nonsense and do a spoof of it.

anyway, the whole time I was thinking the giants and beckham did nothing to deserve this kind of thing and its foolish, then of course they had to insert dez. They all said dez was a bigger problem and thankfully odb isn't that bad. Nuts.

then this morning i was dropping my kids off at school and was listening to mike and mike and they were doing the same schtick on ODB. Danny Kannel was on because he does college football with them and he said would you rather have odb or Dez bryant with all his problems. My first thought was what problems? He hasn't been arrested or suspended.

Mike Golic and the rest agreed that Dez was much worse than Beckham and golic said Dez FIGHTS with his teammates and coaches on the sideline and at practice, NEVER goes to meetings and gets in all kinds of trouble off the field to which all three agreed.

When has Dez ever fought with anyone on the sideline? When has he ever fought with a coach or said anything bad about a coach? I get that dez was rough around the edges but if you grew up with no parents and slept in the high school gym you might be a different kind of guy also. Its weird it feels like they just take a mixture of misinformation, problems of other players and the myths that get passed around about Dallas players and applying it to Dez.

anyway its just comical to me that they are attacking beckham like this and that they all just so carelessly put all this stuff on Dez. I only bring this up because of the amount of morons that watch these shows and take them as gospel. When people hear this they then think Dez is some sort of criminal who fights his teammates or whatever. pretty foolish.

I can't believe I made a thread about espn but i just find it so outrageous and silly. Antonio pierce and tim hassleback on tv being critical of guys getting mad or frustrated about losing..completely ridiculous.

Although it is a national show, Mike & Mike really cater to a New York/East Coast audience. So it really is not surprising they flip OBJ actions on Dez

I'm not an Eli fan but Eli did call out Beckham after the game and said Beckham brings it on himself and needs to act better. I don't recall any Cowboy player calling out Dez for some of his behavior through the years.

I think this is Beckham's third year in the league. Can he hold out and request more money next year? If so, I hope he holds out for a long term deal from the Giants. I would like to see the Giants lock up Beckham for $17M/year :)

What is this ESPN you speak of? Is that the former all sports network that was great in the 80's and 90's and is now off the air?

Dez and OBJ are head cases group them in with TO.
Whoa, bro! Molly is gorgeous and opinionated. Maybe that's your problem with her?

(Side note [not for you, Rat], she's dating Jalen Rose, an awesome dude and former NBA player.)

She is cute nothing against her. :D

Listen OBJ should have been tossed out of that game. Over reaction NOT. He bumped a Ref, then when Newman whispered sweet nothings in his ear, he flips out and removes his helmet. OBJ is lucky the refs gave him a break in the game.

I'm not kidding when I say when I stopped watching ESPN due to cutting cable out and going exclusively with streaming services, my life improved. I am now so thoroughly unconcerned with what these jokers say (and most of the time I'm not even aware, unless I read it here).

These guys are not put on these shows for the knowledge and fairness, but rather their personalities and ability to speak without stuttering and stammering. I've completely stopped caring what they say because it doesn't matter at all.

I think the "not role models" stance is naive. Everyone is a role model, and these guys have a wider circle of influence than most people.

I will agree that the media is out of hand. However, the only time I hear this sensational stuff is when someone comes on here to complain about it.

I didn't think many people watch ESPN anymore other than sports bars.

I feel bad for Dez the way he is always unfairly portrayed in the media, even flat out lies (the tape) have been reported.

But let's not pretend Dez isn't pouty and emotional because he is a giant man-baby.

What is more amazing is you shaking your head saying what problems? With Dez it has been one thing after another.

-thrown out of the mall for the way he was dressed
-getting sued for not paying for jewelry
-alleged that all his homies are staying at his house and partying
-needing a full time baby sitter for 4 years
-having a falling out with his mentor and getting sued by him
- getting sued by a senator for renting out his place and returning it completely trashed with feces everywhere
-an emotional spaz on the sidelines countless times going off on team mates and screaming.
-getting in trouble for punching his mother and it only being dropped after mother decided not to do anything further
-Running onto the field when he was hurt in preseason two years ago and getting punched in the face by a rams player
-going off on reporters and sounding like a fool in the locker room.
-And now we are finding out straight from the owner and a team mate that he doesnt show up to meetings and is late all the time that he has been here.

The guy is an immature child with no class. But he is a great receiver so we put up with it.

Kudos for him for somehow making it in life given his past. But no kudos at all for not maturing after 7 years in the league.

That said, Dez has not had much production since he's been paid. He's been hurt and had a bad year last year with quite a few drops when he played. At present, if he's consistently not showing up or late to practice, this is not a good either. Dez needs to show people his head, heart and body are all about team winning. He's a lightning rod for controversy and most is brought upon by his own actions. Don't know the remedy or you just leave it alone but its out there.

This might be the worst post I've ever seen here. Using a post about ESPN using ODB as an anti-Dez soapbox as an anti-Dez soapbox.

Injured yes. Bad, well you already said he was injured. Buying one of a series of fake Dez takedown stories is ignorant but excusable. Not actually understanding what that report said and interpreting it as him consistently missing practice is worse.

He needs to show he's all about winning two weeks after catching a TD with a broken leg?
It being out there has little to do with Dez but has lots to do with a media laser focused on any potential drama and the poor souls too dim to realize they're being led astray who happily gobble it all up.

You feel better now? Now show me when he fought with teammates and coaches or where he has been arrested?

He has had his issues but none of them have been a big deal. Players all around this league are getting caught with guns and drugs etc, getting asked to leave the uptight mall in Dallas really isn't a problem.

He has had some emotional moments for sure but in the end none of them are really a big deal. From the day he was picked he was pegged as a bad guy who will get kicked out of the league and be in jail. He has had everything under the sun said about him and he hasn't hurt anyone. Lot of guys around the league on many teams can not say the same.
