Journalism is dead.

Nope, just need to know where to look for it. And ESPN isn't the place. Yes, that outfit has become one big stupid clown show with some of the most annoying personalities I've ever seen/heard. But their ratings have been suffering from what I understand, so maybe all isn't lost?

You feel better now? Now show me when he fought with teammates and coaches or where he has been arrested?

He has had his issues but none of them have been a big deal. Players all around this league are getting caught with guns and drugs etc, getting asked to leave the uptight mall in Dallas really isn't a problem.

I knew your comeback would be that nothing is a big deal. The guy is a head case, end of story. Is he bad apple? No, I wouldn't say that. He is just a very immature, mentally challenged individual. He doesn't appear to be very good at controlling his emotions or doing the sensible smart thing. If that offends you, then I don't know what to tell you. That list is all you need to see. And chances are, I left some things out and couldn't remember.

There are great receivers around the league that dont have these issues. I would rather have one of those.

Let me put it into perspective for you. If that was my child, I would be completely embarrassed by the way he acts, carries himself, and the problems that he has had. If you wouldnt, then that is up to you.

he is an emotional guy and has his moments. The reality is he has not hurt anyone or done anything criminal which is exactly what everyone said about him when he was drafted.

Do I like AJ Green's maturity level more, yea but he doesnt play here and if he did he would be picked at like our players just because it draws ratings.

Steve Smith has been an emotional guy his whole career and espn likes him so much they have him on all the time in studio. He played in carolina and baltimore so he was not obsessed over. There are a lot of guys who do the same stuff and get away with it.

btw I didn't even make the thread to absolve dez of his sins or whatever, it was about how foolish espn is attacking ODB the way they do and then just casually throwing out non factual stuff about Dez while everyone agrees and no one stops down to say wait a minute?

congratulations, I bet the 5 year old Dez would love to have had you or anyone as a dad or a parent. He didn't so his life has been different from most.

ODB is becoming a team killer and destraction-looking a lot like TO honestly and with the response from teamates and management will go down that same road if he does not get his act together

If ODB had some of the games that Dez had with very limited targets he would be off his rocker.

Dez is much lesser of a problem than Beckham and Dez respects his competition while ODB trashes and belittles them and tries to take their head off.

Stop it!!! Stop it right now!! that is complete idiocy!!!! He is doing nothing to deserve these lies and made up stories.

Ha that's BS.

Dez had (maybe still has) maturity issues, but he was never as out of control as Beckham Jr is during games.

Dez has never been suspended.

Dez hasn't had an ejection rule created because of him.

Dez actually doesn't have any USC penalties outside of maybe that one "coordinated celebration with TWill"

...TFOH ESPN

Watch out, some here believe ESPN is still doing hard hitting journalism.

This might be the worst post I've ever seen here. Using a post about ESPN using ODB as an anti-Dez soapbox as an anti-Dez soapbox.

Injured yes. Bad, well you already said he was injured. Buying one of a series of fake Dez takedown stories is ignorant but excusable. Not actually understanding what that report said and interpreting it as him consistently missing practice is worse.

He needs to show he's all about winning two weeks after catching a TD with a broken leg?
It being out there has little to do with Dez but has lots to do with a media laser focused on any potential drama and the poor souls too dim to realize they're being led astray who happily gobble it all up.
Oh please...I've done much worse than this and since my objective is "worst post of the year", but thanks for your vote of disapproval just the same.

You might also lighten up on your own drama, "a Broken Leg". It's been downgraded to a bone bruise which was supposedly a hairline fracture. Soccer players run miles on hairline fractures, . Oh but I digress.
Seriously, correct me if I'm wrong but has anyone other than Dez specifically denied Dez being late or missing meetings? To my understanding both Jerry and Stephen have talked around it but not outright denied it. The same goes with Garrett. Please show me where anyone other than Dez denies him missing meetings? It would be very easy to prove otherwise but everyone with DC office blows it off. "Dez will be Dez", "I'm so tired of hearing about this".
Yes, the media ****** will always go after live wires like Dez and OBJ but the two players bring most of it upon themselves. I have no tears for their "poor misunderstood" souls. They both need to grow up and earn their $$ and handle the fame which they so desire.
I don't think that's too much to ask.

What is more amazing is you shaking your head saying what problems? With Dez it has been one thing after another.

-thrown out of the mall for the way he was dressed
-getting sued for not paying for jewelry
-alleged that all his homies are staying at his house and partying
-needing a full time baby sitter for 4 years
-having a falling out with his mentor and getting sued by him
- getting sued by a senator for renting out his place and returning it completely trashed with feces everywhere
-an emotional spaz on the sidelines countless times going off on team mates and screaming.
-getting in trouble for punching his mother and it only being dropped after mother decided not to do anything further
-Running onto the field when he was hurt in preseason two years ago and getting punched in the face by a rams player
-going off on reporters and sounding like a fool in the locker room.
-And now we are finding out straight from the owner and a team mate that he doesnt show up to meetings and is late all the time that he has been here.

The guy is an immature child with no class. But he is a great receiver so we put up with it.

Kudos for him for somehow making it in life given his past. But no kudos at all for not maturing after 7 years in the league.

- Who cares?
- What was that, 5 years ago?
- Alleged? Okay then.
- Yep
- Who cares?
- Who cares?
- *sigh* we all have the sideline audio, don't pretend we didn't. You know for a fact this was a misunderstanding and a jump the gun by the media. Stop with the sensationalism
- Didn't "punch" his mother, there was a family dispute he then attempted to calm her down by grabbing her. She alleged he hit her with a ball cap
- Who cares?
- Never seen him "go off" on reporters. I am going out on a limb and say you're pulling something straight out of your ***. Even if he did, who cares?
- Still no evidence, still just a rumor, still from ESPN, and still something Dez denies

So, since he got here, he's never been suspended or arrested. Had a couple of minor incidents off the field early on. Is that all? No one has ever claimed Dez is a perfect player or golden boy.

Get back to me when Dez is facing suspension or is arrested.

So yesterday I had espn on in the background when nfl live came on. They had a huge roundtable about Beckham Jr.'s actions. It was hilarious. It was like an SNL skit. Its espn sinking to a new low.

Nothing Beckham did deserved a big rountable like that and its absurd how espn creates this stuff out of basically nothing. Usually they save that type of thing for something Dallas related. At one point Herm Edwards said when he was young he had his grahm crackers and milk taken away and its time to take away ODB's crackers and milk!!! He was serious. SNL should thank them for this nonsense and do a spoof of it.

anyway, the whole time I was thinking the giants and beckham did nothing to deserve this kind of thing and its foolish, then of course they had to insert dez. They all said dez was a bigger problem and thankfully odb isn't that bad. Nuts.

then this morning i was dropping my kids off at school and was listening to mike and mike and they were doing the same schtick on ODB. Danny Kannel was on because he does college football with them and he said would you rather have odb or Dez bryant with all his problems. My first thought was what problems? He hasn't been arrested or suspended.

Mike Golic and the rest agreed that Dez was much worse than Beckham and golic said Dez FIGHTS with his teammates and coaches on the sideline and at practice, NEVER goes to meetings and gets in all kinds of trouble off the field to which all three agreed.

When has Dez ever fought with anyone on the sideline? When has he ever fought with a coach or said anything bad about a coach? I get that dez was rough around the edges but if you grew up with no parents and slept in the high school gym you might be a different kind of guy also. Its weird it feels like they just take a mixture of misinformation, problems of other players and the myths that get passed around about Dallas players and applying it to Dez.

anyway its just comical to me that they are attacking beckham like this and that they all just so carelessly put all this stuff on Dez. I only bring this up because of the amount of morons that watch these shows and take them as gospel. When people hear this they then think Dez is some sort of criminal who fights his teammates or whatever. pretty foolish.

I can't believe I made a thread about espn but i just find it so outrageous and silly. Antonio pierce and tim hassleback on tv being critical of guys getting mad or frustrated about losing..completely ridiculous.

Now that you're awake from your Rip Van Winkle-like sleep, welcome to the world of social media. ;)

I completely agree with everything in this post, except the part about "the morons who watch these shows"

Hey! I watch these shows, theebs. Or maybe I'm less self-aware than I thought, and am, indeed, a moron :)

Loving the breakdown that ODB is having right now. Still love the talent, but he's quickly being compared to a young TO as TO began to become elite, and became as much of a distraction as that of an effective teammmate.

theebs watched too.

The question, Tyke, is, did you? :)

I didn't watch that episode, but, yes, I watch those shows when I can.
They don't bother me as much as it does some/many Cowboys fans here.
None of the chatter has anything to do with what's on the field. So it really doesn't faze me. But some folks around here get so offended like you insulted their mommas.

You said practices though. Weird how you actually know the story but you exaggerate it for effect. Maybe your issues with Dez are just projection. And the whole point of the post was to point out the ignorance of comparing the two and you took the bait and joined in.

Maybe since I only read a few lines of the OP...have skipped all this dialog on the networks...i shouldn't comment.

But I will.

I suggest every sports fan enjoy their sports. I also suggest having some good music or some audio books on hand when you want to raise the bar on spending time. It's 100x more fun.

I don't see why people are harping on ESPN for bringing this up. I know in our society it is en vogue to make fun of the media but that doesn't really hold water here. Why wouldn't ESPN have a conversation around this? His teammates (including the QB) and coaches and GM have come out and said it is a distraction. Should ESPN just ignore this story because...well...just because you find it distasteful?

So, you're telling me ESPN sees Dez the way a noisy minority of our fans see Dez? I wonder if there's any connection?
Ding Ding.
