flash back to last year's heated "we should trade for Charles Rodgers" debates

I do remember those. I hope no one is thinking in those terms with respect to Williams. I didn't understand wanting to trade a draft pick for a high salary player with an injury history and who failed drug tests inn Rodgers. High price for a high risk just is not a good approach. Mike Williams should not be a high price player. If he is, no thank you.

I've give Mike Williams a shot at the vet minimum. Maybe changing teams will make a difference.

No team in their right mind would trade anything for him. With that said, the Commanders have an excellent opportunity at their disposal to trade away Randel El or Brandon Lloyd to get Mike Williams. They might even throw in their 5th round pick. I am almost possitive that Washington is one of the teams showing interest. But why waste a trade on a guy that will be cut? Assuming he is cut, I would bring him in for a look see. Depending on his physical condition and the results of an intense interview from Jerry and the coaching staff, he might be salvageable goods. I believe Owens would be a good mentor for Williams. Owens appears to have gotten his career on track, though the nay sayers and anybody from BSPN would disagree. Let him learn from our system of experienced receivers and hope for the best. I would still draft a first day WR this year though. We could in theory seal up our starting WR duo of the future this year alone. Give the young guns 2 years to develop under Glenn and Owens and go from there.

I would too. Limited risk, potential high reward.

Man I wish I got the phone number of some USC jerk I sat next to at the Mike Williams draft.

For 8 hours he was chewing my ear off about how much better Williams will end up being than Braylon Edwards.

Well all you Jarrett fans could get what you wanted. We could still end up with a receiver like Jarrett and keep our 1st round pick for something better.
Yes...because they are tall and went to USC they are the same exact player.

I would love to give him a chance to revive his life here ...... he would have to be cheap and look what happened when we gave Terry Glenn a chance.

I would love to give him another chance also. I wouldn't want to trade for him since he would count too much against the cap, but if he was cut, I wouldn't mind signing him to a contract that was made up mostly of roster bonuses and incentives.

I agree with you. I am really disappointed in him. It isn't his talent, it's his attitude. Maybe he just hates Detroit but IMO that's a piss poor excuse.

I have been really disappointed in M. Williams also. He is who I wanted us to draft the year he came out. He has certainly not lived up to his hype in Detroit, but sometimes a change of scenery and a different coaching staff helps. He may need out of Detroit like L. Davis needed out of Arizona.

All this guy needs is the motivation. I still think something can be salvaged out of him... not saying it will, but if he gets motivated and back in shape, he can be a beast.

I agree, If he is put in the right situation, he can still be a beast. That is the reason I would like to see us sign him. I believe that if any organization can help him get motivated and back in shape, it would be the Dallas Cowboys.

What a horrid start to his career...I honestly thought he was going to be a star.

That being said...bring him in, TO can be a great mentor for him.:D

Never give up the ghost, Carp.

I'm proud of you.

yeah, but Terry was approaching 30 when we traded for him, he was 28 I believe, I'd give it a few years before I start entertaining the thought that Mike WIlliams is going to mature on a different team
