Mike Zimmer's coverage philosophy just isn't working for the 2024 Cowboys

Ok it wasn't Quinns team it was McCarthy's .

Exactly what game was Quinn at when the 2nd half collapse occurred.? I'll wait.
The Super Bowl. Saying it was McCarthys team is a stretch. One guy coaches the defense and one coaches the offense. I mean it is what it is who knows maybe Quinn will win the SB this year. Hope he does he’s a good guy.

He was getting the job done. We were breaking records for turnovers, getting sacks, and the defense would go crazy some games with lights out performances. It just had trouble stopping the run.

Now, the defense just sucks, can't stop anything, and doesn't produce turnovers and sacks.

Quinn is 100 times better than Zimmer.
False. DQ is a fraud. We gave up an average of like 33 a game to any team with a pulse.

Amen. That game was a career killer IMO. I would have liked that X Jets coach as DC. I forget his name. But he took the Jets to two straight AFC championship games. The Jets. One of those years they beat Brady and the Patriots, and Peyton and the Colts to get there. With butt fumble as QB. That alone should make him HOF!

McCarthy shouldve been fired after the Green Bay Fiasco and we shouldve hired Quinn and got him real DTs
Exactly, I cannot believe they kept him after that disgusting show on the field. undisciplined, unmotivated, unprepared garbage performance and that comes straight from the coaching culture, then they kept the guy. unbelievable. there were several coaches they could’ve got this off-season who would be better than him but Jerry’s a bonehead and kept this guy as if all of a sudden he would get more out of the players lol. His arrogance crosses the line of stupidity with who he picks to coach this team, for well over a decade now.

The first four games is showing that the oveall talent level on this team is not as good as advertised by the front office.

In breaking down the games on youtube videos you can see instances where it isn't on the coordinators...it's just poor football intelligence and a lack of talent.

That's on the GMs. The one signing the checks and the one putting the roster together.

You’ve got Bland out. Diggs coming off a serious injury and can’t tackle. Carson out last game and being a mid round rookie draft pick. So, not a lot of depth behind that.

I did/do like Quinn, and in terms of turnovers & sacks against mostly lesser opponents - yes, they got the job done. But against the 49'ers, Bills, and Packers, they gave up a combined 114 points...and I don't recall many sacks or turnovers in those games, with the offense largely stinking it up as well.
They started off 2023 3-1, by beating the Giants, Patriots, and Jets...but were also hammered by the Cardinals in week 3.
In week 5, they were thoroughly embarrassed by the 49'ers.

We had better DL depth under Quinn plus ball hacking Bland. Now we have a DB back from a ACL tear, no Bland, and a bang up weak DL group with little to none quality depth.

Our CBs are man coverage guys, Zimmer’s defense is good but the back end the secondary zone coverage isn’t for our CBs, the safeties can play zone.
But his scheme for the front 7 is good

The best coaches figure out who they have available to play and adapt. Zimmer is new and this defensive roster isn't his. There should be no rigid coverage philosophies. He just needs to adapt to the talent he has on the field.
What Zimmer is doing seems to be working half the time even if the defensive roster isn't his. That's why they are 2-2.

Dallas gets quite a few Eagles games when the Cowboys aren’t playing and even though the Eagles have had issues that # 1 pick DB Mitchell is quite the draft choice . He’s already playing like a veteran and Slay the the ex Lion is on the other side .

Just as an example for one game one series you have Booth coming in cold from deep freeze all season covering Nabors the excellent Giants rookie WR and what a surprise the first shot goes for 39 yards . I posted before this game during the week Diggs should trail Nabors the entire game . After that series he did .

With injuries and such Booh will get his time again let’s hope with better success . Amani O the ex Lion who picked off Jones to end the Giant game # 27 should start opposite Diggs Sunday night . Pickens the Steelers # 1 target awaits .

I don't know why our fans can't see this. If you have two teams playing tug of war and they are pretty much equal except one team has three members who are much weaker, the team with the weaker players is going to lose 9 out of 10 times even if its technique is good. Football is a team game where good teams take advantage of the other team's weak links. A team that gives up a lot of sacks, for instance, doesn't generally do it because the offensive line coach is that much worse than everyone else's offensive line coach, it does it because it simply does not have the players it needs. Coaching makes a difference when the playing field is level.

I would give Zimmer more time. 4 games is not enough to see, especially when your starting CB who led the league in INTs last year is out and a rookie is taking his place. Maybe Zimmer is playing certain coverages more to cover for Carson or the 3rd string CBs who played last week.

I would also take note of the players he has. The Cowboys clearly lost something when they allowed Armstrong and Fowler to walk. The pass rush is decidedly worse this year.

There was also the GB game last year. The images of Packer's receivers running wide open downfield in that game are still burning in my brain. Where was Quinn's brilliance then?
You cannot expect instant results from having a new DC. It is never a smooth transition. I don't understand why more don't seem to realize this. If by late in the season, no improvement, then the criticism would be warranted.

Lol so atlanta had good defenses? I don't get people that like Quinn. Dude didn't even invent the Seattle system that was Gus Bradley.

Can't see how rewarding that defensive performance is a positive. They both should've been fired
