I wonder how Crayton feels in this situation, where everybody has already proclaimed Miles Austin the number 2, including Jerry? And isn't Miles Austin really replacing Roy WIlliams as the number 2 and Roy replacing TO. Shouldn't we be talking about how Miles is better number 2 than RW is?

Well then he needs to take the job from him or expect he will go back to the slot position.

I thought the job was his until Miles proves himself...

Crayton has proved himself as a good slot WR but has not taken over the #2. Myself I don't care who gets the #2, I think Austin because of his speed is being billed as such but I don't think it is carved in stone just high expectation that are being placed on him.

18 catches? What does the number of catches have to do with raw talent? you must be a sports center guy.....

so if he had 90 catches we could compare?

im not saying hes better than TO, I'm saying he has Raw talent, that TO does not have, if you watch football or played, you could see these things, i just think he needs to have the smarts of a TO, until then TO is better obviously, but i think with Time, hopefully this season or next, he can show, why he can be better than TO for years to come.....TO isnt garbage, but his talent level is not that great, but the man is smart as hell for a WR, which is huge in football, he has smarts, he knows how to beat a zone, or juke out a defender, or when to cut ect....just like Crayton, which makes him good, even though he does not have the greatest physical tools, that shows you, smarts are everything or almost

i think Colston has better tools than TO but hes not as smart.....Randy Moss is just a pure athletic he does not need to be that smart, he will just out jump 2-3 defenders, or roast you right off the bat, but in the end he is still a smart WR.....thats all i think Miles needs to develop

Ok well, if you're talking raw talent....than you are really comparing a throughbred with a clydesdale at this point....there is no comparison. T.O is one of the most gifted athletes to ever to put on a set of football pads...Austin is nothing more than Billy Davis until he proves otherwise.

Pretty much. We all want him to succeed, but let's not lose our heads about it.

And he's going to end up like a replica of the eagles trophy case! No Superbowls. Pretty pathetic for such a "gifted athlete", huh?

:)

There are guys out there that are far less "gifted" then the Oh Great One, his bad self, that are sporting rings.

How embarassing is that?

You should go on a one month lack-of-knowledge probation for saying Mile freaking Austin is more talented than TO. o)

Taking any GM or WR coach in the NFL and he will say you are nuts. Not a single one would agree. TO may be a Hall of Fame level receiver.

Anyone ever wonder why the "greatest athlete to ever grace the Earth" has never been married?

Wonder why that is?

I wonder if he loves himself so much that he is not able to love a girl?

Or, I wonder if the girls he dates see him for what he really is after a few dates?

I mean, the guy is the baddest man on the planet (concering football) so I wonder why women are not lining up to recieve his greatness?

Hmmmm?

When Miles Austin forces opposing teams to put their #1 corner on him on a consistent basis then we can have a conversation about how talented he is. Until then, please with the over the top comparisons.

If Crayton holds true to form there'll probably be some ESPN or regional interview with him in which Mr. Quotable provides us fodder for at least a couple of threads.

Ummm....you're comparing a future HOF'er with a guy who has caught eighteen balls in three years....slow down.

Word the &%$( UP! We need a forum where ******** **- I mean differently abled people - can post. Then we can avoid the gravity warping idiocy of the hypothesis of this thread.

people have this image in there head like TO is so athletic, or dominate.....no way...TO is just a big body guy with speed and smarts of the game, that's were is ends

His hands are not that great on a scale from 1-100 he has about 70-75 on hands....bad for an all pro

he cant jump, that has been proven, and he cant go up and get the ball, you would think he could, but he cant, hes just tall, and cant even fight for the ball, it was evident all the years hes been with us.......

his route running sucks, i will say his ability to fake a defender out is good, but beating them on a str8 up route running basis, he cant, sometimes he can with speed...hes not good on outs...or curls....just posts and streak routes, sometimes the slant

and hes a huge baby

Miles, is just as fast, i think faster than TO

Hands have improved, and look to be better than TO's

He can jump higher, and go up and get the ball....he has proven that

his route running can be better, and i think will be better, hes no worse then TO here...maybe a bit bitter

Now when it comes to faking a defender out, i dont think he has that down yet, and isnt as smart as TO yet, but he can run a str8 route without any jukes and get away from a defender, something TO cant do on a regular basism which is why i believe he is faster and quicker....

but TO's smarts....and his ability to be deceptive makes a better WR

If Miles develops these things..he will be better overall...talent wise i think way better

flame away

You keep the talent,I'll take the production.

Isn't that all Miles Austin did last year? Burn you a few times?

Yeah, Dallas doesn't need a "tall," "big body" WR "with speed and smarts of the game". Really, what team would want a WR like that, even with C+ hands (i'd say B+ though)?

As for route running, we better hope that Austin's solid because Roy Williams hasn't exactly been heralded as a solid/smart route runner.

Exactly it is my opinion what would the world be like if we all thought the same?

Get over it, everyone in the world will have a difference of opinion, Some people may think Newman, Romo, or Even Ware suck ***, some may not.... you have an opinion, that some may not agree with, or you may not be human, either way, in your eyes, you are just as stupid as i am

and even more stupid, for coming in a thread as if someone forced you too read it, go outside for a change, seriously, the keyboard n mouse can only do so much for you in life

At this very moment though, I'd still take He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named over Austin. But, if Jerry's serious about this committment to youth then I fully support Austin. We've seen his potential and I hope it can be realized. If he stays healthy I think he can be a difference maker if/when the ball gets to him.
