Miles Austin the best NFC East WR?

As much as i like Austin right now, I would take Desean Jackson over him for right now
I wouldn't. Jackson is a one trick pony. He can run straight down the middle or sidelines but I have yet to see him go across the middle consistenly or run good routes. He can be easily shut down if you don't give him the big play.

Hmmm...thats tough.

Desean is more explosive, but Austin is bigger and can break tackles.

I think a few years down the road Nicks is going to be the clear-cut best WR in the East.

Actually, I think a case could be made that Miles Austin is one of the best Wide Receivers in the NFL.

Now he is a newcomer to the scene, so the respect nationally will take some time but comparing his stats to other Wide Receivers, that case could be made.

Especially given the fact that he didn't get significant playing time until 5 games into the Season.

He is 5th in TDs

He is 7th in Yards

Say what?

It's only Miles first year starting and he's gonna have 1,000+ yards and 10+ td's.

Hakeem is gonna have to be the next coming of Jerry Rice to be the clear-cut best WR in the East.

while we'll be stuck with Roy Williams

Charles Woodson would like a word with you.

Nope, Charles Woodson is not a Shut down corner. He is a great Corner, but he is no shutdown corner. Thats why he gets a chance to make more plays since QBs don't shy away from him.

Charles when he came into NFL, was one. I think he plays more savvy, but he is not the athlete he once was. I know, since I loved him with Michigan, and being a Michigan fan, he is one of the best Defensive players to ever play for Michigan.

It's pretty obvious to me that you haven't watched him play a down since his Wolverine days.

Woodson is legit. I don't throw around the term shut down corner loosely, because that's reserved for dudes who you just can't **** with... but he's a shut down corner.

we haven't visited this discussion in awhile

I remember all the worry-warts about the receiving corp heading into the season, and the comparisons between our group and the WR groups from the other division teams

I think it's safe to say that All Smiles is the best WR in the NFC East

Desean Jackson or Steve Smith got my vote.

I dont know if he is or not. I know I really like the guy, and I know the fans in the stadium love austin.

I also think this, had it not been for you know who, this would have started with austin last year. He was open alot and never looked at.

thank goodness that train wreck is gone.

He's right. Woodson isn't a shut down corner. There aren't any in today's NFL. I have always liked Woodson's game even when he was at Michigan. I couldn't stand him being a Buckeye fan but I always thought he was a very good corner but no one is a shut down anymore.

Just a hunch.

He has too much talent to suck as bad as he has this year.
he runs crappy routes and ran a horrible one today on the 1st pass to him. he comes out of his breaks lazy

I'd still pick Jackson and maybe Smith. Moss may be better. We don't have enough data yet. But it says a lot that he is being considered as a top East WR. Some called him a bust earlier this year.

Some called him a bust the last two weeks, although he redeemed himself in the Commanders game.

seriously, Steve Smith?

he might go on to have an Amani Toomer type of career, but in no ways was Toomer the East's best receiver

Steve Smith is the black Wes Welker.

No argument there.

Plexico Burress didn't run crisp routes either and he was a good target for Eli. Plex is better than Roy, but they are similar players, and those types can really help out QB's.

If he can start playing with some confidence, I think he'll get it going.

Well all I know is that 824 receiving yards and 8 TDs are pretty darn good with 5 games left in the season...
