I feel conflicted. While true he was our best lineman last year and he is vastly underpaid, I feel we can't keep giving in every time somebody is unhappy with their contract. Not to mention we have an abundance of pass rushers if he wants to make this into a big deal

Exactly. He is about to be our fourth best defensive end behind Hardy, Lawrence, and Gregory. Last year he played a lot of snaps. Its hard to believe that he will pay a lot of snaps this year unless someone gets hurt. The best he could do is show up be a beast in the nickel on the interior and earn a two year deal from someone else next year.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Have a heart.

He is just some poor guy who wants to feed his family. Or something.

I swear, NFL players are walking microcosms for society anymore,

Hey, I should be paid more because, well, I showed up last week.

He is a Jim Jeffcoat on the early 1990s teams to me. If that and that may be insulting Jeffcoat.

If he thinks he is otherwise, cut him.

I know he was good lockerroom fellow, but he needs some perspective.

If he's made a FA he likely would makes some decent cash. There are plenty of teams with plenty of cap including our own.

I assume he wants more years which is really the problem to me
He played very well last year and out played his contract but he is 32 or so and more years to me would be a problem
I wouldn't have a problem giving him a bit more money if it was structured so we can walk away after this year
If things go as planned we won't need him past this year but although we have depth at de with hardy out 4 games he would be nice to have
He is also an over achiever which I like on a roster. You get the guys we have with much more talent to play as hard as he does you got something then

I don't see them giving him anything more. They have Hardy, Lawrence, Russell and Gregory in addition to Gardner and Crawford who can kick outside in a pinch. After the first 4 games his snaps will drop significantly with Hardy playing 1st and 2nd down and the rookies getting up to speed. If his snaps drop in half then that is his raise right there.

6 whole sacks and he thinks he has earned a raise. I would cut him. Seriously.

It's hard to justify a huge increase with Hardy, Lawrence, and Gregory on the roster.

This sucks. Probably the best timing for him as he was our best DE last year, and this year he faces competition from Hardy, Gregory, healthy Lawrence, Gardner & Russell, not to mention rumors of coaches wanting to bring him inside. Seems like a solid guy in the locker room, but we can't afford to pay him much more than he's getting.

His timing sucks

Simple, if he wishes to hold out for better pay....hold out and go to Washington.

Didn't even think about this but you can't be suprised. He was easily the best player on the dl last year so we need to keep him.

One year don't get you the authority to hold out. I think about guys that's been grinding on this team for years trying to get where we are.
