Put your hate aside and be realistic. Even a injury-prone Romo would grant more than a 7th round draft pick.
I honestly don't know that anyone would trade anything for him at this point, the restructured contract is rough.

The missing ingredient for us to win the Super Bowl is currently an effective pass rush. We have been getting by without it, but let's all agree we aren't very good at getting to and sacking the QB. It might be the difference between winning the super bowl and an early exit in the playoffs.

What are the chances that Jerry trades for a stud pass rusher to put us over the top? If there was a team like Cleveland, or another bottom dweller that had a stud pass rusher, would you give up a 1st or 2nd round pick to get us over the top, assuming of course that we could sign the player to a longer term deal?

I would be ok, with us waiting and standing pat and trying to manufacture a pass rush with what we have. I was just wondering what you guys think about it.

For the record Dwight Freeney has 3 sacks this season on limited snaps. Think he could have made a difference?

Same problem we had in '14.

Personally, I wouldn't give up a 1st or 2nd just to get a pass rusher -- for two reasons.

1. We obviously lose that draft pick.
2. We would have to end up paying the pass rusher way too much $$. Way more money than if we just use that draft pick on a legit pass rusher.

This is a young team, overall. So amazingly, we have an open window of opportunity again. So I'd rather just be smart and continue building through the draft and not get ourselves in a cap bind again.
In this season a srud from a bottom dweller would help for two reasons, a proven talent is worth this year than a potential talent next year. Throw in a 1st thrown at the highest rated talent in the draft may net 8 sacks on the high side probably more like 4-6 on avg.

This sort of win now behavior is what gets growing teams in trouble. Sure, there has been disparity in playoff runs and Superbowls for us for quite some time. However, what we have now is a young, growing team that has primarily been built thru the draft. That is how you build a team that can compete for years to come. Cheap and young. Too much money tied in to guns for hire will slow you down. I say keep on trucking at what you have been doing well for the past few years. Draft, draft, draft. We have a 2 to 3 year window where if continued draft success is a thing, we will be the scariest team in the nfl.
