I still hate the one game playoff set up.

ote="Fletch, post: 6325994, member: 1963"]So do New Yorkers. [/quote]I still hate the one game playoff set up.
Time for a real team to do what the Yanks couldn't. Go Royals!
Ok, we will assume Yankees and Mets both make it.
If this past subway series was a preview of World Series.
I would give the edge yo the Yankees.
As great as the mets pitching is... And I said it is.
The Yankees find a way,
The Mets are creating drama and issues where it should be celebrated that they are running away with division.
I listen to sports radio in NY and every mets fan seems to glass half empty. All year, no matter what's going I with mets.
I think we have Toronto right where we want them.
They over-celebrate everything.
Yankees hanging tight with a no name infield, beat up outfield, pitchers in and out of rotation.
Girardi will pull no punches when playoffs start.
I think we take them out if we meet them in playoffs.
Scratching my head how were on a Cowboys site we have a dedicated thread for both New York baseball teams.
Oh well.
Carry on
Its the only negative to being a Cowboys fan. You get the front runner crowd infesting the fan base. You get Skankee and Laker fans who for some odd reason seem to like the Cowboys.

On one hand I'm thrilled with what the Yankees accomplished this season.
I thought a playoff spot was a longshot given the weaknesses of the club, i.e. starting pitching, shoddy production out of 2nd base and SS, too many oldsters as regulars, blah, blah, blah.
But they did it!
Now comes some reconstruction...
It would be a terrific Christmas if Sabathia retired.
Get a dependable starter (if there is such a thing) and a decent RH bat and I think you've got a team that could compete for the division crown next season.
For the first time in many, many years, the Yankees are pretty well stocked in their Farm System. I hope they try to develop those guys and spend big money on keeping those guys once they develop.
And then they get snarky if you mention the oddity of a thread in those team's honor on a football website primarily dedicated to the Cowboys. It's not big deal, and this site does have a "sports zone" but it stands out more when the teams are in Cowboy rivalry towns.
Again, no biggie

I hope the maintain the farm system also.
But changes need to be made... Beltran... ARod... Tex... Sabathia... all are going to be a year older.
Since July 28th, this was an under .500 club.
They can't stand-pat.

I think they can be OK. They may not be able to compete for a Championship for another season or two but after that year or two, they could be good for awhile. CC is coming off the books this next season (maybe sooner), Tex and Beltran in 2017. ARod in 2018. The Yankees, over the next few season are going to get a lot of cap back. They could realistically sign some big names at key positions and get control of their cap over the next few years. Would allow them to keep the young guys they want to and still bring in good talent in needed areas. I'd be OK with that approach.
