LOL!

They didn't quite gut their farm system, but they certainly gave up some quality picks– for a reliever.

I could see for starter... but for a reliever... I'm glad Houston didn't do that.

4 prospects.
Reliever for only 3 years.... They think they "winning now"?

Big Papi retiring after upcoming season.

No I don't quite "get" that move by the Sox.

He's been a PIA for the Yankees for a long time!

Very good player... not quite HOF IMO, but just below that.

Without looking at stats. I'm guessing your opinion is based on that... He has been BIG TIME... I would vote him in.

Until Edgar Martinez goes in... who was a better all-around offensive player, and not quite the train-wreck on defense that Ortiz was, I can't see Ortiz going in.

Yeah, Edgar was an assassin.

He should be in.

Still, Papi got big clutch hits/HR's that leading to winning... Winning championships.
Quality, clutch and timely hitting counts for a lot in my book. He was feared... Still is...

After Edgar. :)

When it comes to "Win Shares" overall, Edgar is leading him.

Finally a little bit of excitement...

In a surprise move the Astros traded Jed Lowrie to the A's for minor league reliever Brendan McCurry.

Maybe a salary dump... Lowrie was owed $14 mil for the next two seasons.

McCurry was arguably the A's best minor league reliever. He pitched in high-A, AA this past season, so he's probably at least a year away from competing for a big-league spot.

He's not a flame-thrower kind of guy... more of a deception artist.

We'll see if the salary dump leads to a big-time signing.

And even bigger news, L J Hoes is back with the Orioles. :D

Hopefully starting next week we start to see some action. Been pretty slow so far.

Yeah, the Astros had kind of run of out things to do with Hoes and needed his 40-man roster spot. No place for him in the outfield anyway.

The Lowrie trade was as much about clearing a spot on the 40-man roster also. Rule-5 is a problem for Houston right now due to the number of prospects they have in the system.

Dan Duquette likes to be a Rule 5 player so we'll see. Hoes is a guy with a pretty high OBP compared to lot of the Orioles so maybe he'll show something in ST.

I would expect things to heat up overall after Thanksgiving. We need some action.

And I thought it was goofy of the Blue Jays to pay $10 mil a season to Happ...

And then it got goofier for Tigers to pay Zimmerman $22 mil a year.

And now $31 mil a season to Price?

And the Sux are trying to dump HanRam.

Lotta money for Price who may be on the down side of his career.

Oh the signing doesn't instill fear in my heart.

Kinda happy to see it because in 4 years or less the Red Sox are going to be regretting the deal.

They seem to have good luck getting other teams to bail them out - at least the Dodgers . . . . .
