stros up 6-1 on Arlington.
Cole as the 4 spot in the rotation is hilarious. what a nasty rotation in houston.
Quiet. Apparently nobody saw this coming.

Can’t wait to see Cole’s debut today for the Astros. Love this team. I wish the cowboys had an efficient front office with focus on future moves as well as the present and trying new things with efficiency.
I don't know. Just have the team tank for a few years so you can get the best draft choices. Do that three to four years in a row and and wala, big contenders. That seemed to be the Astros blueprint.
Can't appreciate a team that tries to just buy championships.Lets go Yankees!
I agree. Unless Giles improves.Agreed. Giles should be in the set-up role if anything. Morton as closer would be fine with me for now. The Stros have the talent to get a real closer in a trade which I think will happen before the playoffs.

so making good trades without giving up top prospects and developing your own farm system means nothing? anyone can tank but they still have to make wise decisions with those picks and develop them.
no, not anyone can tank. What would the Cowboys fan base do if the team tanked for 3 or 4 years? If the Mets or Yankess did it and there have been times I wish the Mets would have but the city would have killed management. It still is easier making "wise" decisions with one of the top two choices in the draft than it is down the line. I think baseball should go to a lottery like basketball to keep tanking from happening. The Marlins look they are tanking this year. But then again, they tank about every seven years or so.
Unless Jerry starts spending money again!!!! Lol!!Can't appreciate a team that tries to just buy championships.
The first trip through the Astros' starting rotation:
Verlander: 6IP, 4H/0ER, 5K:2BB
Keuchel: 6IP, 7H/3ER, 4K:1BB
McCullers: 5.1IP, 4H/2ER, 10K:1BB
Cole: 7IP, 2H/1ER, 11K:3BB
Morton: 6IP, 3H/0ER, 6K:2BB
Pretty wicked starting staff right there.
Even with the '77 Met lineup (leading off Lee Mazzilli and hitting clean-up John Milner) they still probably win 85 games.

I am a tad worried about Dallas. The Rangers hit him well. He struggled a lot in the game. Out of the 5 starters, his debut was the worst. I hope he can get back to the form he had to start last year. If so, the Astros will be like the 90s Braves, as far as starting rotations go.
I agree about Giles, he is a great set-u man, but an average at best closer. Closer is the weakest spot on the team. They have an absurd abundance of riches everywhere else.
hey Man, dont be dissing my 77 mets. I used to travel from Lake Charles to Houston every year to watch that juggernaut. Who could not expect greatness from Nino Espinosa, Neil Allen, Dave Kingman and Lenny Randle and Skip Lockwood pitching three innings for the save. John Stearns was known as the dude excpet the dude never did squat. Highest paid player was Tom Seaver at $225,000. Back in those days the Astros would have a light that would come on and off. If the light was on when a pitcher would get a strikout for the stros, the fans would get free beer. Joaquin Andujar would get two strikes on Dave Kingman and wait for the light to come back on and kingman would always oblige the crowd by striking out. You could get a seat right behind home plate because noone came to watch either team. Astroworld during the day and the game across the street at night. To be young again. Great times
