Mo Claiborne?

Doesn't matter who you plug in back there. If there's no consistent pass rush, somebody is going to get lit up. We can replace Carr, but we'll be having this same thread about his replacement if there's no help on that D line.

I think Tillman would be great for Mo. Mo gets a ton of hate from the board. His play doesn't match his draft status yet, but he's shown glimpses of promise. Some players don't get it unless they are in the right situation, I think Tillman would be that "right situation." Tillman is 33, he won't cost a ton anyway.

So the player we gave up a lot for needs a mentor?

I wonder about the realistic possibilities for free agent CBs.
Brandon Flowers
Charles Tillman (
I wouldn't count on him as a starter, but would provide interesting depth)

I'd bring these two in.

Flowers has a lot of talent, he just needs a change of scenery.

Tillman is an interesting possibility. Tillman would likely be a 3rd CB, but he would be a real leader in the secondary. He knows the system inside and out, his real value could be in teaching Mo how to be a starting CB in the NFL.

Yes. If you make a large investment you make all reasonable attempts to make sure the investment is successful.

We already spent the picks, they're sunk costs. Mo is here until his rookie contract runs out. If we can get a player that fits the scheme better than anyone else in the NFL for cheap that can mentor our investment into success, why wouldn't we do it?

Logic says yes.

I honestly don't get why some people on this board are so quick to kick players out the door. You as a fan want the team to succeed, right? These players are already under contract, might as well try to maximize their output.

Cutting loses is necessary at times, but Mo is still on a rookie contract. He costs next to nothing and has a lot of talent. If a mentor is what he needs to produce as expected, then give him a mentor.

That is really not the point. Sure you want to exhaust yourselves but honestly, if he needs a mentor, the organization seriously misjudged the talent to begin with.
