AJ is a terrible example for that, he is arguably the most over performer in TNA.

90% of the people there list AJ in their top 5, and probably around 70% have him as their #1.

AJ is over, and he's not as bad as you make him seem to be on the mic. I know of Steve's work outside of the "stone cold" gimmick, but even at his best he was nowhere near a Shawn Michael's in he ring, but i'd take Stone Cold over The Rock everyday. I never really liked the Rock all that much, ever.

I'd take Austin over The Rock as well, in the over all. I don't disagree with that.

And I'd love to give AJ more credit on the mic but I just can't. The guy is just not good, at all, at it. It's just plain painful to listen to. He's not as bad as Morgan or ADR on the mic but God is he painful to listen to.

And the butchering he did of the Ric Flair type gimmick was just absolutely terrible. Some of hte worst stuff I've ever seen.

And of course Austin isn't near HBK, there are only a small handful who even realistically were. That's just plain silly.

The AJ comparison is perfect cause he's the most over guy in TNA and is not, and never will, the draw for TNA that Austin or The Rock were for the WWE.

Hell he's not even going to be the draw that The Rock could be for the WWE again, right now, if he cameback full time. It's not even close.

Which was my point and why he fit the comparison perfectly.

Exactly.

3 people have drawn on that level:
The Rock, Hulk Hogan & Steve Austin.

AJ Styles, is a draw. Usually the quarter breakdown his segment is the highest rated of the night, his segments are usually .2-.3 higher than anything else on the card, I remember a show around 2 months back AJ's segment was around a 1.54 and the second highest thing of the night was 1.3 and I was like wow that rating would've been horid if AJ wasn't on the card.

AJ Styles, while never will be on the level of the rock, hogan or austin, is in the top 5 draws in wrestling today. He is more popular than probably anyone outside of Randy Orton & John Cena that is wrestling full time right now. TNA took him off tv for a month, and his return the crowd goes CRAZY when he comes back, people posting on forum's waiting for him to come back. Is he great on the mic? No, far from it. But he's "serviceable" on the mic, and imo it adds to him, it makes him feel more "real" and whatever he is doing is obviously working as he was PWIllustrated's #1 wrestler on the PWI500 last year.

Yet if Jericho wanted to put on a 5 star match, who's he going to call?

AJ Styles, Kurt Angle or Shawn Michael's

(Styles-Jericho will most likely never happen, but would be an AMAZING feud. They could putup a match similar to Michaels-Jericho at WM19, and don't even get me started on a Michaels-Styles match/feud, that would be pure gold)

if Taker wants to put on a 5 star match, who's he going to call?

Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels or Chris Jericho.

Jericho has been vocal about his dislike of TNA..the odds of him ever being in the ring with Styles or Angle is zero...and the odds of him ever working with Shawn is somewhere minus that. Remember Shawn is retired..you seem to keep forgetting that.

I doubt Taker would call any of the guys you mentioned either..Angle is gone and is on his last run. Read son..read...Kurt has said in several interviews his body is giving out quickly. He works when he can and that's it....he's hurt all the time just like most of the older guys. SHAWN IS RETIRED. Jericho is not one of Taker's favorite people in the world...but there is respect for Chris.

Jericho calls TNA bush league

Yep..he's vocal about it. He can afford to say whatever he wants; he has multiple sources of income and I almost feel Chris just sort of wrestles for fun these days WHEN he wrestles that is.

Shawn will do another match, just a matter of time.

and if Taker wanted a 5star match the only 5 people that work in the U.S that could provide it to him are Shawn Michaels, Bryan Danielson, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho or AJ Styles. They are the 5 best in ring workers in the US. In that order, pretty much.

Shawn is retired and I see nothing from his interviews that would indicate he has any interest in "another match"....so

Taker has wrestled his last match against Shawn...I doubt he cares about wrestling Bryan...Kurt and Taker are done...and he'll never ever wrestle AJ.
He doesn't care for Jericho so if he's cherry picking opponents it won't be Chris.

How exactly is Shawn "working" in the US currently when he hasn't wrestled in over a year...and I have to laugh at you putting Bryan in any top 5. He's not even top 5 in his own federation.

You've obviously never seen Danielson work before he came to WWE. He is arguably the only performer close to Michael's level.

Shawn will wrestle again because at 45 year's old, he has too long to go to never get the itch to wrestle another match. He trained Danielson who should have a bright future in the WWE, and when he's a main eventer it'd be very easy to do a Trainer vs Trainee feud, and it would draw huge $$$.

I never heard of him before he came to WWE so yea you're right about that..I do know from watching that he's an ok wrestler..but he gets no pop..no nothing. They tried him with the divas..nothing. He's just another guy on there to me. Nothing special. Just because Shawn trained him doesn't mean he's the next big star although I know you'll never see that since you worship at the altar of Shawn.

Shawn best have the name of a good divorce attorney if he comes back to wrestling..since you are so much of a Shawn fan you should know he quit because his wife wanted him home to be a husband and father. She was tired of being a single parent he said. I think he made the right choice. He's older than most of the guys on there..it was time. He's been wrestling for decades.

Another good post from DallasGirl here. I have to say i enjoy reading your posts in this thread. You seem pretty darn knowledgable about everything you talk about and you discuss things in an unbiased manner.

Have to say the same thing about Daniel Bryan. There's no way he'd ever be in WM against Taker. Especially for the 20-0. He just gets no pop or interest from the fans at all. He has no personality, and doesn't do mic work well at all. It would never happen.

Well thanks..I enjoy wrestling and have for many many years so it's fun to discuss...

I don't want to diss this Bryan guy but just because Shawn trained him doesn't mean squat once the cameras are on. I think he's an ok wrestler but there is nothing appealing about him at the moment. One's trainer doesn't make somebody a star automatically. Unless something changes drastically and everybody on the roster gets hurt there is no way I can see Taker wrestling him at a WM. Who would buy that? Shawn maybe....

Well if you've never seen Bryan Danielson work on the indys, you won't understand.

The guy is awe-inspiring, and the fact that Michael's trained him only makes him greater than he already is, which is great.

Please..don't talk down to me. I've been a fan of wrestling for more years than you've been on the earth. I understand wrestling...I understand how over a wrestler is or isn't. I've seen him on TV and he gets no reaction. The odds of him working a main event with Taker are probably nil at the moment. He doesn't have much personality....or let me say this it doesn't translate over the TV screen at the moment.

Just because Shawn trained him means nothing if he himself isn't exciting and he isn't. Yet..perhaps he will be in the future but he's certainly nothing to draw fans in. And while we're at it..how is this for you....Taker trained Kane but Kane/Glenn only made it because HE had what it took to be a viable performer. HHH has worked with Sheamus. Wrestlers make it because of WHO THEY ARE not who trains them...

I just mentioned that Shawn trained him, Danielson will make it on his own merit.

Although I said when it occurred, Danielson looks to me a better fit in TNA, while McGuinness would've been a much better fit in WWE. McGunniess has that larger than life charisma, while Danielson doesn't.

I didn't mean it to come out that way... Face it I'm an old coot compared to him. :p:

I've got ticket stubs older than he is!

Which is kind of funny if you think about it....
