Good morning, Cbz and fellow Zoners. It looks like people are spending time with families and it sounds great. Sarge, thanks for the kind words. I'll soldier on. My son returns from College this weekend, so we'll be faced with re-integrating into our home routine. His challenge? Finding a job. Have a great day, all of you. :D

Good morning Pops and fellow Cowboy family.
Phil, so sorry to hear of your pup. (I call all dogs pups!). I've been thru it a number of times and know your loss and pain. At times like this, I've come to realize a couple of things about our special relationship with our 4-legged family members:
What would my pups life have been like if they weren't part of our "pack"? Would their life have been better? I highly doubt it!
I've finally accepted the fact that we don't own these wonderful companions. They are truly "on loan" to us, and we will be judged by the type of life we provide for them. I feel you will be judged very favorably!
I've found that, although I was like you and chose to wait awhile to ease the pain, I couldn't refuse another "friend" a wonderful life, and jumped back into it soon after. I also soon realized that the decision to wait longer was not predicated so much on my grief, but on the feeling that I was disrespecting my lost friend by finding a replacement so soon afterwards. That is the furtherest from the truth!! All dogs are different, and having a new one doesn't erase the memory of previous pets, but rather enhances them.
My thoughts are with you.

Morning Weldon. Howdy ologan. Hi to all the gals and guys. Going to Toronto tomorrow to see one of my sons and daughters. We picked a week when there will be no NBA or MLB games. No hockey either. Hopefully we'll get to go to the theatre. Donezetti's Roberto Devereux is playing at the opera house with Sondra Rodvanovsky playing Queen Elizabeth for the first time. Not my favorite opera but.... We will get to meet Sondra briefly.

What a thoughtful and eloquent post. I read this to my wife and we both understood what she meant to us. We'll be doing some dog-sitting in the near future and will consider a new hound when the circumstances are right. We went out on Saturday for the first time since Trixie's death and we agreed that we were feeling better afterwards. I am grateful for your thoughts and will continue to support our local animal rescue outfits and to pay special attention to every dog I meet. Enjoy your day, all of you. This helps make my day so much better.:D

Focus on the word briefly as in very very brief. I don't even like the opera and while she is popular I don't particularly like her. It will give the missus a chance to dress up.

Morning Pops. Morning to all my wonderful friends. Trip was good and seemed awfully short. Breezed thru customs and then immigration in about an hour which is remarkable. Crashed later but was a good trip. Cold and rainy though. Going to tour downtown Toronto today with my son. Toronto is the most cosmopolitan city I've been to outside Nairobi. Truly a melting pot.

Good morning, Cbz and fellow Zoners. Jobberone, i'm glad your trip to Canada was positive. Ologan, I'm more than a little concerned about the weather down south of us. Tornadoes are never good, but I assure you, that weather is not coming from my neck of the woods. Take care and be safe, all of you.:D
