Morning, Pops and Pen Pals. Welcome to the weekend! We made it to Calif. safe and sound and everyone is leaving this morning for a 3 hour drive up in the Sierra Nevadas to a place called Portoloa. We will spend the weekend there.

Leon, I hear you. I'm really not a big picture guy either. You know, it's said that the best pictures are sometimes the ones created in story. Before there was film, before there were digital images, before there were even illustrations in books, there were great story tellers that created pictures in peoples minds, through story. Homer and the Stories he told of Helena of Troy/Trojan War in the Iliad and The Odyssey dated back to the Bronze age or to around 1180 BC. Those were stories created by a master story teller that exist some 3000 years ago, and yet, we still see them today in our minds.

Long story short, make memories and tell us your stories about them and that will be good enough Brother.

ABQ, sir, what a gorgeous post. I'm very literary, and that was incredibly well-put, sir. I'm younger than a lot of the folks that post in this beloved thread, but I appreciate all of the thoughts of you wonderful people. I also appreciate world history and our great country, and those that paved the way for my generation.

Some slack off, ABQ, but please know, there's others that fully appreciate our wonderful history.

Morning, Pops and Pen Pals. TGIF! This is our last day in California for this trip. Our Granddaughter's play is tonight and she has the role of Captain Hook. Should be fun. I'm playing golf with an old friend this morning and we leave to go home tomorrow morning, We've had a wonderful time, but it will be good to get back to Texas and home too.
