Morning Pops and Pen Pals. A new week has begun and hopefully, we take advantage of the opportunities it is sure to present.

Decided to go to the Renaissance Faire yesterday at the Sante Fe Dam with the little one. It was on a whim as we decided late Saturday evening to make it our Sunday event.

We hadn't gone in a couple years, but he got a sword and sheath a few months ago and wanted to go there with it and play medieval with all the other folks that go. Ended up dropping two large on a costume for him that he'll grow out of in 6 months, LOL. But he was in character with about a thousand or so other fans of these events. We ate huge smoked turkey legs, saw the joust, maidens ball, and played a bunch of games, archery, the whole shebang.

I was dead tired and soaked in sweat about 3-4 hrs in, and he was just getting started. Kid has amazing energy when he's in his element.

Sounds like quit an ordeal Trouty. Nothing better in life, IMO, then watching your Children be Children. It can be a long day, as you said, but believe me when I say that it's worth every minute of it in the long run.

2 weeks without a drink, today! Had my liver checked (well, did a full lab) at the VA on Monday. The doc called me back and told me he didn't like the results from my liver reading, so I'm going to get another lab done in two weeks. I asked if there was a possibility of cirrhosis and he said no, thank the Lord.

Taking the boy hiking today at Griffith Park (where the Hollywood sign and Observatory are). It's only a 10 minute drive from my home, and we haven't been for about a month. We used to go almost weekly.

It's so important for me to keep him active and around nature. I love nature and want him to enjoy it as well (and he does!). We have a secret spot we hike to that has a huge garden that was planted by an emigrant over the course of twenty years. The man passed in the late 90s but his garden lives on due to volunteers (it even survived a fire). It encompasses 5 acres on one of the lower peaks of the Park.
