Mort: Cowboys expect to trade Romo to Texans or Broncos ***MERGE***

John Elway is acting like he'd only take Romo for vet minimum on the free agent market. Yeah, okay. Then good luck with the scrubs you have at QB.

If I'm Romo, I look at how the Broncos are acting too cool and go to Houston.

Maybe a flip flop of 1st with Houston or a 3rd ...hopefully..... better than the Jun 1 waiver, imo.
Kind of don't see Denver trading, but who knows. Seems like maybe Houston because they're worried Denver would win out in an open market?
Don't know.

I figure both are scared of the other one getting him, cause really if healthy, they could be in the superbowl with Tony.

Elway might be a bit cocky, but he knows that Tony would prefer to say in Texas.

I'm not so sure. They're in good cap shape today, but they've got some big contracts to pay...

Watts the guy to get rid of.

He probably still has a little value and nobody has seen him play post injury.

You gotta keep Clowney if your Houston.

If we get a great trade in our favor it will be from Houston.

I don't think Denver would be as desperate as Houston SHOULD be.
They can play like they aren't desperate but both are in the same boat. A legit QB short of a super bowl run.

I don't think there's any way the Texans can Take on a salary of 14 million...they'd have to renegotiate with a sign bonus

Lol pathetic Jerry. Trying to drum up trade interest when there isn't any. Broncos and Texans are just gonna chill and wait till Tony is released.

Or, he is lucky, or he is both.

Romo's base salary in 2017 is $14M so any trade partner would have to pick that up or renegotiate it.

Houston and Denver likely gambled that they could get Romo for less than $14M once he was released.

Then Glennon got a contract for $14.5M and the price of QB poker immediately went up.

The question is, did it go up enough to where its now cheaper to trade for Romo's $14M salary?
Yeah, he still has 3 years a 54 million left on the contract. That will be renegotiated for sure. Some guarantees and lot of incentives, I'd guess.

Both Denver and Houston may not even be shopping for a QB unless it's possibly Romo, so they can wait.

Maybe Jerry floated the "he will be released" rumor.

Looked into it. Watt would be a $20 million hit in dead money to move.

so they are both gonna get one half of romo?

Guys, guys, I'm hearing it's a 2nd round pick! The voices in my head are telling me this. Let's hope they are right! :flagwave:

True, but none of that would be guaranteed, so the receiving club could take a year-to-year approach on his current deal and/or choose to negotiate a new deal a little ways down the road.

And in doing that they run the risk of missing out. There was always a trade market if 2 teams wanted Romo.

If I'm Romo I look at the lousy HC and staff and think that...
