Mort: Cowboys expect to trade Romo to Texans or Broncos ***MERGE***

My final prediction is this goes through the weekend, until Monday, and then he's released. I just don't think the interest is high enough for a trade.

mcclain is a texan stooge. they mislead him all the time to get stories out to gain leverage...like dallas does with spags.
Yeah on Ben and skin after the interview they said McClain is like the Texans press secretary, they tell him things to put out there for the team. I highly doubt they are content rolling with savage all year.

Lol so you think the Texans want to go into next season with Tom Savage when their entire fan base is calling for Romo.

If a team will give up a 2nd round pick to get rid of a QB then they will come off picks to acquire one.

Mike Glennon.. Mike freakin Glennon just got a $14.5 mil deal with Chicago and there are plenty of QB needy teams out there

i just can't buy that there is no interest, this is all just an intense game of chicken, who's gonna blink first??

Who knows what ultimately happens, but it's pretty hard not to see the cause and effect going on in HOU right now.

Only within the Cowboys FO and its fan base would so many be preoccupied by a former walk-on from Eastern Illinois who led us to 2 career playoff games in 10 frustrating years.
Simply amazing.

There is plenty of interest. But everyone knows Jerry is going to release him eventually.

Maybe they they can still get him if he's released. Or maybe they draft a QB. There are more option than just Tony or Savage.

Who are they going to draft?
If they dont get compensation, keep him. Don't blink Jerry!

Cowboys would be nuts to cut Romo. Obvious Houston/Denver want him badly. They wouldn't put it out to the press daily that they don't want him if that weren't the case.

Yep. If they just took Romo's contract as is, he'd only make $14 million. Less than Glennon.

Unless he trades him to somebody. Even if he does not, the 'eventually' matters. After FA has dried up? After the draft? There's still plenty of time to hold him to see if you can get something and still release Tony in time that he'd be an upgrade in training camp at more than one contender's camp. There's no hurry for Dallas here, unless it's to do Tony an unnecessary favor.

Just connecting some dots this must be why I heard Garrett was upset with Romo mid-season for making that big speech to the media, essentially handing over the reins to Dak and acting like he was done in Dallas. It ruined the trade market. There have been sparks of hope today, but it falls flat because we don't have any leverage. I don't think we're getting anything for Romo. New England treats Garoppolo like an asset they have under contract for 2 more years, and with Romo it's like everybody knows he's off the team one way or the other despite being under contract for a couple more years.
