Maybe the Cowboys should go the Bill Walsh route and use "creative tension" by having a QB competition between Romo and Dak a la 1987-88

If you listen to bellicheat? yup

people are snowed by NE being successful that everyone is good there....the guy did well when Brady was playing with his deflated balls for 4 games; they played inferior competition, but he looked pretty good...not TWO first round good

In other words, we don't know how good Jimmy G is. He looked good in a few games and the coaches assure you he is. If the Pats truly believe in him would they even be willing to trade him? Brady can't play forever

Just connecting some dots this must be why I heard Garrett was upset with Romo mid-season for making that big speech to the media, essentially handing over the reins to Dak and acting like he was done in Dallas. It ruined the trade market. There have been sparks of hope today, but it falls flat because we don't have any leverage. I don't think we're getting anything for Romo. New England treats Garoppolo like an asset they have under contract for 2 more years, and with Romo it's like everybody knows he's off the team one way or the other despite being under contract for a couple more years.

We actually have tons of leverage with Tony, if we want to use it. We probably don't want to use it, though.

Have there been any updates in the last 3 hours?

Jerry's an idiot for releasing Romo. Romo has yet to be released. Jerry's an idiot for not having traded Romo already. The Texans don't want him, they just happened to have coincidentally jettisoned their starter today. Nothing unusual going on there. Belichick's a genius for when he eventually trades Garoppolo. No word or not on whether or not Garoppolo will actually be traded at all.

I think that's it.

I don't know what is going to happen, but Houston is so screwed now if they don't end up with Romo.

You going to roll with Savage and Weeden or start a rookie? Seriously Houston? I guess you could trade multiple first round picks to the Pats for Grappolo and maybe go get Cutler off the trash heap.........LOL

Like I said, Houston is so screwed if they don't land Romo.

They have leverage. But I cant see Jerry playing hard ball and holding on to Romo.

Personally, I'd keep him until someone steps up to the plate with an offer.

That's what makes it tough. It doesn't really hurt Romo all that much to hold onto him for a few weeks here until after the draft. If a team wants him, what we're probably asking for is fairly small potatoes in the long run. But there's always a chance Jerry won't do that to Tony on principle.

They just need somebody better than Osweiler to be back where they were earlier today. That's not a huge hurdle.

Yesterday I was cursing at Jerry for being stupid to release Romo for nothing. But deep down I thought, no way they can be that stupid. Our front office have a plan, and we are going to get something good for Romo!!!. :yourock:

Houston could be scary with Romo, WR, RB & that Defense. They gave NE problems without a QB and their best player on defense. If I am Houston I overpay (thru draft pic) for Romo. Perfect scenario for both.

Everyone's working on their spreadsheet on how to blame Jerry for every possible scenario..like an NCAA bracket

There is plenty of interest. But everyone knows Jerry is going to release him eventually.

Given that his contract isn't guaranteed the Cowboys don't have to cut him to save cap space until the first week of the season.

There is a difference between us cutting him now and and cutting him 4 months from now for a team that is trying to compete now.

Further, even if he is released there is no guarantee that you will get him.

You sure seem intent on us getting the short end of this deal. That is all I get from your posts.

I just hope Jerry is taking a stand, and this is what's taking so long. Maybe, just maybe he is telling interested teams that he wont budge on whatever he is asking for in return for Romo. With the fact that in theory, we do not have to release him.
