saw an interview with mcclain that was posted on twitter and he makes it sound like the Texans feel they have all the leverage in the situation and even more so they would want Tony to not expect a big day from them and work off a pay for play contract. basically play for us because you live in texas already and we are your best shot at a superbowl. they are making it seem like they dont need him at all and to that i say LOL. i really hope they dont get him and have to roll with savage all year. hold on to him jerry, call their bluff.
Ya, i really hope they either have to pay through the nose for him or we trade him somewhere else. They have never had a qb this good there before and clearly they don't deserve one.

if im jerry im like hey i'll release you as per our gentelmens deal but i need you to now do a gentlemens deal with me and go anywhere but houston.

mcclain acknowledges their dire QB situation and then sits back and is like eh maybe they'd look at him, maybe... give me a break!

No, just Silver and others suggesting them.

At this point, that's really all that is left to do. If Houston has not budged yet, I don't see any reason why they won't just wait Jones out.

Bringing up Jacksonville might make them think twice.

i'd hold on to him rather than serve him up on a platter to houston who has been arrogant as hell in all of this.

I would hate to see them play us like a fiddle after making possibly the worst FA signing in the history of the NFL followed up by giving away a 2nd rounder to erase their giant mistake.

in my opinion thats absolutely what they are trying to do. they are trying to make it seem like they dont need him and i gurantee if he becomes a free agent and they sign him theyll reveal he was their number one target from day one. they have savage and weeden for 1 year as their main qbs and then want to get up and make it seem like nah we dont need him. unless they really are just that dumb.

There needs to be two suitors to make a trade happen. If there are two teams Tony's willing to play for, a deal will get done. If there aren't, we'll eventually have to release him. It's pretty simple.

There only needs to be one team willing to trade for him

If I were the Cowboys I would tell them quite clearly that my plan was to cut him in July when I was going to sign my rookie class.

if they wanted him to study the playbook, work with coaches, give input on receivers for the draft, and participate in OTAs then they can give us a draft pick now. Else they can wait until July.

Yeah, but that one team will wait for him to be released if there's no second team to create the urgency to trade.

Maybe. Or they say let me trade for him and guarantee hes ours

the longer you hold on to him the more urgency could be created. im sorry gentlemens deal or not you can also man up and say tony i thought about it but at the end of the day i have to do whats right for the team and thats getting something for you. jones owes romo nothing, if anything romo should get it and i think he does.

Probably McClain thinks he's posturing for the Texans, he's that egotistical. They know they're going nowhere with Savage. Some of their fans are betting they can pick up a rookie and he might turn into another Dak.lol

I think we all know that the team is not going to carry Romo's cap hit of $24 million on the books for 2017. So this automatically brings a couple of facts to the forefront.

1. The teams in the league are not stupid, if we know Romo cant stay on the roster as is, they dam sure know it also.
2. Since teams know we are not going to keep Romo on the roster, there is very little incentive to trade for him.
3. Romo will only play for a very small group of teams, thus the potential market is very shallow with few trading partners
4. So the only incentive to trade would be to keep from having to outbids and teams would rather pay more $ than draft picks
5. Jerry has a very strong personal relationship with Romo and even called him a miracle one time, he is his adopted son
6. You are not going to jack around with your adopted son, meaning we are not going to hold Romo hostage till training camp

Ergo, that is our predicament. Honestly, I think Jerry works the phones over the weekend in one last attempt to trade Romo to a suitable team and if no team offers anything reasonable then I think Romo will get his release next week.

What is the difference between next week and 4 weeks from now? What is your rush?
