Mort: Don't count out Shanahan to Cowboys

You guys are forgetting that whoever is our HC is almost always a co-personnel guy with Jerry.

Wade himself acknowledged, (without any hesition), in his last PC that he has a lot of say in personnel moves. It's always been that way with Jerry. even Chan Gaily had such power. Jerry leans heavily on the HC for such decisions.

I wouldn't want Shanny within 500 miles of Valley ranch to make any personnel moves about our team. He's one of the worst personnel guys in the NFL.
I don't get this at all. How so?

Give me a beak, Shanahan won 3 Superbowls. Yes, 3 superbowls. Without Shanahan, the 49ers don't with their 5th. Ask any niner fan around back then and they will all tell you that they wish they had fired Seifert and promoted Shanahan. He is much more of an offensive genius than Wade is as defensive mind BY FAR! He basically took the west coast offense and added the zone blocking scheme and the shotgun. Yes, he is an offensive coordinator but wade is a defensive coordinator.

Winning cures all, and losing destroys all. If we win, Jerry and he will be best friends. if we lose, they will point fingers and he will leave. I'm fine with that. i would rather bet my money on shanahan than wade phillips any day.

You need to go back and read my post again. And I wouldn't say Shanahan is better offensively than Wade defensively although I don't see that as a viable comparison. Let's just say they are both extremely good at what they do.

this is a joke right? either that or you havent been paying much attention to them...

he is a really poor evealuator of talent, and most of their drafts have produced a ton of busts...he had 100% authority over every personnel decision they've made, free agency and the draft

Although there are tons of examples of how awful his drafting was, you could sum it up in two words:

Maurice Clarett. :eek::

My biggest reason not to put Mike and Jerry together. I'm not certain they could be held in check.

we've been really good with the draft and free agency though, so that doesnt worry me quite as much unless Jones cedes alot of decision making to him.

I think many people are taking what James said the wrong way. He wasnt saying it to be negative, he was saying the truth. What he said was 100% correct.

Yeah, and? It still points to the fact that Wade's tough talk is utterly ridiculous and his promise for change is going to go over about as well as a lead balloon.

Shanahan was also their offensive coordinator in 92 & 93...how'd that work out for the Niners then?

They were the second best team in football both years. Not bad when you consider the Dallas and Buffalo teams from those years.

No I'm not kidding. I look at the Broncos draft history and they've had some decent ones the past few years:

2008 - Ryan Clady, Eddie Royal, Peyton Hillis
2007 - wasn't very good, only 4 picks that year
2006 - Cutler, Marshall, Elvis Dumervill
2005 - Darrent Williams, Dominique Foxworth, no 1st round pick
2004 - DJ Williams, Tatum Bell
I am not going to keep going back but you act like the guy has been terrible at drafts. No it isn't the best or in the top half but it isn't the worst like you pointed out.

Look if you are asking me to choose between Wade and Shanahan I am going to chose Shananahan everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.

And like I said earlier they were number one in yards and points both years.

Mort for once can you say something and it come true:cool:

He never said Shanahan was coming here. All he said is it could cause a team with a coach in place to fire their current coach, and said there would likely be rumors of Shanahan going to Dallas. He never said he'd heard that he WAS going to Dallas, or that there would even be any interest. Alot of what he did was just try to make a case for why Shanahan to Dallas might make some sense.

safe bet you can add this to that list as well

again, he never said Shanahan was coming here, or even suggested there was any interest on either's behalf.

Jerry's mouthpiece Mickey & Co. already shilled how Mike has done nothing without Elway and it's easy to be a genius with a great QB.

case closed.

So you have Romo, who shows signs of being a great QB, and you have Garrett, who hasn't quite figured out how to do that. Hmmm...

I don't know if you could get Wade to stay on (as a DC) or even if that would be a wise idea to do so, but I think Garrett is going to say bye - bye now and there is no way Wade is turning this group around so I am all for Shanahan if it is possible at all.

If Wade did not stay on I would give Crennell a call first off to lead the D.

Where would Wade go? It's not as if lots of NFL teams are clamoring for milquetoast Wade whose team went 13-3 and a playoffs game to 9-7 with no playoffs.

I'm still wondering why anyone would be so excited about Shannahan. He got fired for being a loser.

His Denver team had some talent, especially on offense.

Look at his record since Elway retired....lose lose loser.

Look at his team's total collapse this year....lose lose loser.

Why would you expect him to turn this team around? I'd really like to know.
