I'm not sure I'm buying that Dez is a complete disaster unless there is something else going on that is not being disclosed. He is on pace for 84 receptions and 1,006 yards, currently with 503 yards after 8 games. That isn't "beast mode" statistics, but it is far from "a complete disaster."

Compare that to Roy Williams, whose best season here was 596 yards in 15 games! Yet Dez is a disaster?

He may not be the next Michael Irvin like most thought he would be, but he is still a good receiver and is not worth giving up on.

Seems to me that he is being setup as the goat. Maybe if the staff called plays to his strengths he would be more productive.

I don't think the Cowboys will sign Dez to a long-term contract with all the stud WRs coming up in the next couple of drafts.

2 1/2 seasons in the same offense and only one 100+ yard receiving game.

Either he is illiterate and cannot read or he just isn't committed to learning the play book. Either way, he sucks. Sorry to say that, but it's the truth.

Can anyone help me understand why this was posted as groundbreaking news? The Captain Obvious pic would easily apply here.

My impression watching the game last night is that, for the most part, Romo avoided Dez like the plague.

Maybe he wasn't happy with Dez after long bomb or whatever. Not sure.

Mort just said a prominent Cowboys executive just sent him a text about Dez " he is a complete disaster". Discuss.

I've been saying this for weeks, it's not news. If I were in charge, he'd be benched.

Good. then Garrett and Romo, can find another WR to blame. just like T.O. and Roy Williams. they are long gone and the Cowboys are still losing.get Dez out of here and you will still lose.

Ok so they took Dez out of the game, why can't we take the other team's stud receiver out of the game. Our receivers are the only ones who get taken out of the game by "rolling coverage."

Because ATL has two such wrs, while we have none?

Ummm... look at what marshall is doing in chicago.... he is the only receiver on that team that is above average and defenses still can't take him away.

Dez is garbage. He hurts this team more than he helps it. Yet another bad decision by jerry that he won't admit. Guy needs to be benched and we should have brought in another receiver as insurance this year.

I do not disagree with any of this.

Marshall runs routes all over the place though, left-right-middle-deep-close-crossing-intermediate-etc-etc. He is not restricted to the same basic 3 or 4 routes.

Everyone would agree that Dez has struggled. Some may say it's been a disaster. Others not so much. But to your point, everyone agrees he's been a disappointment. The problem, at least IMO, is someone "prominent" within the organization is texting Mort calling Dez a disaster knowing that would lead to headlines and stories across the media.

Just think for instance, if some high ranking Panthers official called Cam a disaster at 2 weeks ago. Or if Vick was called out by an Eagles high ranking official. To me it stinks like a rat that an official would essentially throw Dez under the bus like this.

Hopefully this prominent official is a ballboy or janitor.

To be fair, maybe there is much more to Dez's "story" than we know about. I guess we'll soon find out...

True, and the coach actually gameplans ways to get him the ball.

If the defense tries to take someone away from us, we just go somewhere else without adjusting ourselves.

If you really want to know who that "prominent" person is, just ask TO.

Who knows, it's probably a combination of the following with Dez that spurred this leak:

1) He hasn't developed as a player. In many ways, take away the portion of Dez's rookie year where he was hurt, and his game looks, to me, nearly identical as it did in 2010. He just isn't getting any better

2) The charge that hasn't been dropped by the Prosecutor related to Dez hitting his mother. Maybe there is more to this than has been publicly exposed.

3) The fact that the organization basically feels Dez has to be under twenty four hour watch with an entire set of minders, babysitters, and security guards along with an elaborate set of rules that would be insulting to a 12 year old

Note, I think the Cowboys would put up with #2 and #3 if Dez was growing as a player and getting better. The problem is he is the exact same player as he was in 2010 and all the investment in keeping him out of trouble just isn't worth it for a simple 1000 yard receiver. How many guys went over 1000 yards last season? 25? 35?

Starting to unravel. If we lose next week, more of this stuff may come out.

I totally agree, if you know that he's lacking upstairs then simplify things for him to get the most out of him. If you do that then Romo will have more faith that he's going to be where he's suppose to be and thus throw him the ball more.
