In the offseason it as reported that Demaryius Thomas did not know the route tree, the playbook, anything.

Fox and Peyton came in, they have him run maybe three routes. A go, a screen and a slant.

He is fourth in receiving yardage this season and leads the league in receptions of 20+ yards.

I totally agree, if you know that he's lacking upstairs then simplify things for him to get the most out of him. If you do that then Romo will have more faith that he's going to be where he's suppose to be and thus throw him the ball more.

I thought they've already dumbed down his route tree to just 4 or 5 routes.

What do you want them to do -- reduce it to one?

This the NFL -- not Highschool football.

Have you seen anything in Dez's game that warrants that type of special treatment?

Problem is the Cowboys have already dumbed it down to 4 or 5 routes total.

Where do you go from there?

There's no indication they've done that. Actually play on the field says otherwise, because we still have Bryant screwing up option routes and running posts when he should be squaring it off.

Oh well. He's at least better than anyone on Green Bay.

Dez has not lived up to expectations or at least what the Cowboys expected out of him.

It is very apparent that Romo won't even look his way when his number is not called.

His problem is that he doesn't read disguised coverages and it has been costly for the offense. He's playing the #1 WR role in this offense and to be quite frank he can't even be the #3 right now.

His route running is his biggest weakness and that is what separates elite WRs from the rest in the NFL. He's not where he's supposed to be and when he's supposed to be there.

To top things off, he doesn't have elite speed either so it's not like he can stretch the defense vertically. The same goes for Austin who, IMO, has been the most consistent guy next to Witten. Not having an elite speed guy is really forcing things inside of the cover 2 shell and giving defenses the bend don't break attitude.

That is the problem with the offense.

just last week.....Dez came within a fingernail of make a game winning catch vs the Giants, a catch that wouldve made him a hero and possibly saved our season, this week he is all of the sudden a complete disaster? im not buying it.

This comes down to coaching first and foremost, and secondly being on the same page with the QB, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Dez has all the physical tools to be a great WR.

Wonder if Jason is leaking out to the media again. I was wondering where "the mole" went that we heard so much from before Waddles got canned.

We haven't had any mole talk since Ray Sherman got fired. Just sayin'.

One contract Cowboy. Another bad 1st round pick.

You just can't fix stupid and that's exactly what he is.

To be fair, maybe there is much more to Dez's "story" than we know about. I guess we'll soon find out...

The only story I see is that he injured his hip, didn't practice for much of the week, and was in the game as a decoy that the Falcons bit on. Had ATL been leaving him one on one and keying on Austin, Dez likely would have been sitting

Twice Jerry has drafted prima-donna head cases, and gave them a sense of entitlement by having them wear #88 so he could exploit the marketing angle. Twice it has failed miserably. :lmao2:

There comes a point where having all the physical tools simply is not good enough.

The guy had 1 catch... 1. Why does he not get that many balls thrown to him? Because he can't be trusted. With his physical abilities he should be dominating one on one coverage.

He has what, 1 100 yard game in his career?

He had 2 this year alone and a 95 yd with 2 td..

This is exactly what's going on right now. Coupled with mistakes and drops in key situations from Ogletree, it's pretty tough to sustain drives this way.

i think Dez is easily the best scapegoat this offensive staff can throw the blame on. when things arent going well, everyone looks to blame someone, and Dez is too easy of a target.
