Bye bye Dez! At least he got to live it up for his birthday

Fox and Peyton came in, they have him run maybe three routes. A go, a screen and a slant.
He is fourth in receiving yardage this season and leads the league in receptions of 20+ yards.

Where do you go from there?

This comes down to coaching first and foremost, and secondly being on the same page with the QB, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Dez has all the physical tools to be a great WR.

The guy had 1 catch... 1. Why does he not get that many balls thrown to him? Because he can't be trusted. With his physical abilities he should be dominating one on one coverage.
He has what, 1 100 yard game in his career?

It is very apparent that Romo won't even look his way when his number is not called.
His problem is that he doesn't read disguised coverages and it has been costly for the offense. He's playing the #1 WR role in this offense and to be quite frank he can't even be the #3 right now.
His route running is his biggest weakness and that is what separates elite WRs from the rest in the NFL. He's not where he's supposed to be and when he's supposed to be there.
To top things off, he doesn't have elite speed either so it's not like he can stretch the defense vertically. The same goes for Austin who, IMO, has been the most consistent guy next to Witten. Not having an elite speed guy is really forcing things inside of the cover 2 shell and giving defenses the bend don't break attitude.
That is the problem with the offense.

You just can't fix stupid and that's exactly what he is.
